Another lovely week...

Sunday is Market Day..
Its a lovely sunny day and there is a big roll-up this week.
The stallholders extend down the lane way next to our place...its a lovely atmosphere..

John mans the shop while I do a bit of sewing out the back. Thomas is delighted to find his mate Daniel (from scouts) is in town as his Mum has a stall today. They spend the morning together..
After lunch we go up on the hill to look at fixing the gate...

Unfortunately we don't have the right size drill bit for the job. I drive back to town ...but the hardware is now closed for the day.
Never mind...we have a lovely walk down to the dam and sit under "Wimbleweather" the pine tree.
Thomas has a delightful time humming to himself as he makes daisy chains..Priceless...

We thoroughly enjoy our macaroni /mince loaf and salad for dinner.
The boys do a bit more Earthsea reading..and i potter in my sewing corner..a nice evening..

Monday and there are some lovely cloud reflections this morning.

John harvests some Chamomile and processes the roots to make a tincture.

We have a fairly quiet Monday order wise..which is a good thing as a local drops off about 20 or more boxes of books for John to sort through. It takes him most of the afternoon. There are a few worth keeping...but most will go to Scouts Garage sale or the bin...
We get some big orders in just at the end of the day...so will pack them up ready for tomorrow.
John and Tom go off to a special Scout Cubs and Joeys afternoon at Woodbridge Pool.

(Tom says the pool looked a bit different to this...with 30 scouts jumping in and out)
Tom has a great time and comes home utterly exhausted and barely able to eat his dinner..
We have a quiet evening..

Tuesday and it promises to be about 24 today!!

I have a lovely walk and get on with usual chores.
Community garden is a bit short on Community today...its just Laura, Pete and me. We do some weeding in the poly tunnel then prepare a bed and plant out corn..lots more planting to be done, but we run out of time.

We have a lovely cuppa together...sharing fresh garden salad and nuts and strawberries for lunch.
There are orders to get on with at the shop ..the afternoon passes quickly. We have a number of customers visiting the shop ...an unusual assortment today..
The day is indeed warm and Thomas is feeling a bit heat fatigued..so he has a quiet afternoon and John reads to him for a bit..
We go up to soup and bread night ...Thomas makes a miraculous recovery and enjoys hanging out with Archie.
I go across to a School Board Meeting at 6.30pm with Cate.
It's an interesting and informative meeting as usual.. Its great to hear about all the good things happening in the school and discussing challenges too. A lovely bunch of people.

Wednesday morning is overcast but warm...

The day turns in to a very Tassie one weatherwise...with squally showers followed by sunshine..on and off all day...and the temperature drops a bit too.

We are busy with orders all morning...and have a wonderful visit from our former customers John and Edna from Sydney. They are touring in Tassie for a week and dropped in  to Cygnet especially to see us.. Really lovely.
The afternoon passes very quickly as we have customers buying up for Christmas and orders coming in right to the last minute for post today..
I go down to the garden to get some greens for dinner while Tom does his homework.
We have a nice quiet night at home.

Thursday and its overcast again...

The poppy flowering in the Community Garden is stunning..

The wind picks up through the morning...
We have a number of customers in today and orders to keep us going.
I go over to Tom's class after lunch and we continue with our space artwork...lots of glue and glitter!!
We have alot of fun though.
After school..I crash as hay fever headache has just become so intense.. (I think that wind today was not helpful).
The boys enjoy their burgers and I settle for a bowl of cereal..
Its a quiet night...once Zumba music stops!!

Friday and the sun shines..

We have an unusual albino Oak seedling...
Apparently not uncommon...it will not flourish as it has no chlorophyll.

Its a usual Friday in town with lots of cars coming and going.
We have a few customers in..
Especially enjoy meeting Barbara Harvey who visits us for the first time. She grew up in Cygnet and her family were responsible for alot of the buildings in town. She had lots of lovely stories to tell of the old days.  She enjoyed seeing the flat and told me all the paddocks were once orchards..
We spend alot of the morning preparing for the Organic and Herb Expo on Sunday.. John tidying up the lab and bottle room while I print out brochures and make signs for out the front.
I will be running the PowerPoint display on the table for people to see what we do..
The afternoon passes with paperwork and orders.
Its a stunning warm afternoon..
Tom arrives in really tired from school...he has not been quite right for a few days..with a low grade tummy upset..Good thing its Friday.
I have received a couple of official St James invites during the week ...as I'm a Board member..nice..

We have a really relaxed Friday afternoon. The boys do some storage arranging in the shop after 5...while I have a walk in the beautiful afternoon.

A lovely long so evening...

Saturday and we have plans..
I am go to Hobart to hunt out a suit for Tom to wear to the wedding..and stop in at Spotlight of course..I don't have much success with the suit but cross a few other things off my list..

I see the GayPride March...and enjoy the warmth down at Constitution Dock before heading home.

John and Tom  go to a Garage Sale at Cradoc..then up to Wattle Grove to fix the gate (my birthday pressie)...then RV for coffee.
The boys find 4 books at the Garage Sale and repair the gate.. (Tom reckons he can push it open with his little finger now!!) John had to resort to manual drilling after his $20 drill from a garage sale a few weeks ago gave out...
We have a lovely afternoon..pottering..
There is some action in the Town Hall with people setting up for the Organic Expo tomorrow
The most interesting thing about this vehicle is the roof...

Then have family movie night..watching one of John's favourite films.. Armageddon.
Tom liked it but shed a tear at the end..He thought Bruce was very brave.
(He asked if we could watch a happier film next time!!)
John read Tom a bit of the Earthsea Trilogy before he heads to bed...

Countdown to Huon Show..

Had a wonderful catch up weekend with my dear siblings...thanks all.

Monday and its still pretty warm here after a day of about 21 degrees yesterday.

Beautiful roses in a front garden I pass by...

Back into the routine...doing chores, a little sewing on the dress then off to work.
There are alot of orders today so we are pretty busy.
The sky darkens and darkens during the morning and eventually the rain comes down...even one BIG clap of thunder..don't hear that very often down here for some reason.

We get through the day...then Tom arrives in.
Soon its scout time..and John kindly walks Tom to Burton's Reserve while I have a snooze...suddenly feeling VERY tired.
After dinner the boys get into the new book.....The Wizard of Earthsea trilogy bu Ursula Le Guin...an old favourite of mine!!  I happily sew while listening to the reading..
Then its off to bed ..

Tuesday and it is a magic morning.
Clear blue skies ...sun shining...

A quirky window display at Lotus eaters..

Usual routines then off to school and work..
I head to Community Garden about 9.30am ..
Lots of weeding to do.
We also plant out some Tomato plants ..5 new varieties. These are part of a project with Hobart Botanical Garden to grow and save their seeds. Kate Flint runs a local seed saving group called SeedSaveUs and was approached to take assist with this project.
We have a lovely morning together..and enjoy our cuppa...even if no-one has brought cake today..its mostly nuts and dried fruit...yum.

Back at the shop, John makes a batch of Catarrh Cream and we do a few more orders..
After school, John and Tom go up to Wattle Grove to harvest some Bellis perennis..I mind the shop.

Then its off to RV for soup and bread.
I leave John and Tom to go to a Town Forum presentation by Council at the Town  Hall at 6pm...
Some interesting presentations...but I didn't learn much about the council's plans.
Glad to come home and settle down for the night.

Wednesday...and its overcast...a shame as its the morning of the solar eclipse.
We do the usual chores...
Tom has a look out at the sun and notices that we could just see the filtered impression of the eclipse...(See lower left quadrant.)

There is plenty of work to keep us occupied ...with orders and John makes a Eucalyptus/Plantago cream while I finish labelling the Catarrh cream boxes..
The sun makes an appearance half way through the day..
John heads into town after lunch to sort through some more secondhand books...
Tom has Footy Skills after school today. He has a fantastic time and is all enthusiastic about it...really delightful.
I leave Tom doing  his homework and go to get some salad at the Community Garden..and have a chat with Liz and Laura who are in the garden too.
John arrives in just after about 7 ish with a couple of boxes of books..
Then its reading and settling down for the night..

Thursday and the sun streams in the back windows..but the grey clouds are out the front when I set out on my walk. The rain holds off and it turns into a lovely sunny morning.

I take a look at the first rose blooms over the road..gorgeous..

The back garden looks so lovely on the sunshine..

We are busy throughout the morning with orders etc..
After lunch I go over to help in Tom's class. They are studying Astronomy...so we do some art...astronauts on the moon...using black paper tissue paper and glitter for moon and stars...then cut out drawings of astronauts..they look pretty good.
Tom has a haircut after school and we finish off in the shop...

Devour dinner tonight...John and I have the crumbed flathead and chips while Tom has his usual kid's burger...yummm...
A bit more sewing while we hear more of Sparrowhawks' adventures..

Friday and the rain comes and goes..
Sadly the Aquatic Fun Day at Huonville pool is cancelled today..too cold and wet as it is an outdoor pool.

We have a quiet morning..so John labels the Eucalyptus Plantago and I set up a new Toy/Christmas display..

We have  a number of customers in today...local friends and tourists too..Nice to get positive feedback from visitors..
It's a busy afternoon of orders...you can never tell how the day will pan out.
The weather has come and gone all day...a very Tassie sort of day.
Tom arrives in from school and at 3.30pm he goes to the Town Hall for a free Puppet Show..lots of fun.

We take a short walk around town after dinner and then enjoy a quiet Friday night at home.

Saturday and it looks like a good one for the Huon Show.
We set out about 8 ish...
We delight in looking at the animals .....

and everything else there is to see..
Such a terrific day...the pictures tell the story...

John's favourite tent had info about feral cat and fox eradication... The guy said we could help ourselves to anything..(meaning brochures etc..) John said.."Anything?? looking at the cat!!"

Tom enjoyed having a row

Just look at Claudia shimmy during the Zumba demo..

Tom loved watching the dogs race eachother in the flyball events..

John loved these two Nannas running the laughing clowns

A fantastic day..

We were glad to get home and have a quiet afternoon..
I went to the Community Garden and harvested some salad greens for dinner.
Tom had a play in the trees behind Lotus Eaters with some new friends also playing there..
John has a snooze and a leisurely read of the paper..
We are glad of a quiet evening at home...
