It is good to see John have a slow start. He has strained muscles in his back and needs to have some recovery time...so he will take a break from work on the hill for a few days.
As it is Easter week...he will not be potentising medicines in the morning this week. (It is part of the Steiner 'philosophy' not to prepare medicines between Passion Sunday and Easter Sunday).
So I hope the restful week will help John recover his strength again.
We have a busy day...and watch the weather get gloomier and darker outside.
I take Tom into Hobart in the afternoon to have an MRI on his left foot... following up on a ganglion sited on x-rays awhile back. He is no longer limping with pain...so I hope all is resolving...We don't have an appointment with Foot Specialist until June!!
Back home in time for scouts...
John has a snooze while I bake a chocolate cake..
Dinner then a cosy quiet night ..
Tuesday and we get both fires going today...it is grey and cool out.
Lots of orders come in one after the other.
John makes Sphagnis during the morning...so I am busy dispensing until lunchtime.
The new building over the road is coming along with the roof struts being hauled into place today.
At least it looks like the building may be similar to the adjoining shops...just need the owner to reduce the rent so we get tenants!!
The day passes quickly..and Tom arrives in.To his absolute delight...there is a new Minecraft Book waiting for him. (John ordered it last week and has been hanging out for it to arrive)
So this afternoon's homework is reading this book to me while I do a clean up out the back. (So glad you are coming to visit Connor..as I have to get this pigsty into some order!!)
When Tom goes to work, John and i drive up onto the hill to have a lovely wander and look at what needs doing next. Glorious up there this time of day...no sounds except for distant cry of Black Cockatoos..
Back home its action stations getting dinner on the table so I can get to choir at 7.30pm.
Amazing moon tonight...Eclipse clearly visible..(not so easy to photograph though!)
Amazing what a group of 6 singers can achieve under Helen's wonderful directorship...fabulous and heartwarming on such a cold night.
Wednesday is cold and foggy when I set out.
Amazing setting moon in the fog.
Tom and I move to our 'winter' rehearsal space near the fire this morning.
By mid morning, the sun is shining...beautiful day.
We have a few orders to start.
Sadly, we have had news that our friend in NT has a nasty back injury..so has had to pull out of the dessert walk in June. A bit disappointing for John and Tom..but given we have the Cairns trip in July..and there is always next year..
I get to work on updating our medicines list..a big job..but always interesting to see how many new medicines John has made over the year.
Tom arrives in from school and checks that Connor's room is all set up. Very excited!!
John heads up onto the hill to spread some hay over the seed we looked at yesterday..
I have a school Board meeting tonight...so it will be early dinner again..
Thursday is a very foggy morning..
But it fines up into glorious day.
Connor will be here tonight...very exciting. Thomas says he can hardly believe it!!
Jess and Aaron's bubsie is due today...so I wait (with bags packed) for the call any day now.
I get down to garden for about an hour as Paul (architect) has called to say he will drop by at 11am.
Unfortunately, he gets caught up elsewhere...not to worry..A really big order has come in so we have plenty to keep us occupied.
The afternoon passes quickly..and Paul ends up coming later in the afternoon.
Exciting to discuss finer details. He will be going to India for 3 months as of May..so wants to get things in place before heading off.
We race out the door once we finish with Paul and arrive at the airport just in time to greet Connor. (his plane landed 10 minutes early!!)
We have a lovely meal at Mures and have a short wander along Constitution Dock...a fantastic moon rise tonight...but I only have my phone...so the photo is pretty ordinary..
Once home Tom gives Connor the tour..then we are delighted by the array of gifts Connor pulls out of his bags!! THANKYOU LINDA!!!!. Farm preserves, vintage scissors and pincushion, fife, chemistry apparatus for John ..not to mention the kangaroo skin backed aborigine thermometer (very tasteful)...and there was more....
We settle in for the night. Connor sleeps in the attic...'Hannah's room'
Friday we have a lovely slow start.
I have my usual early morning run then just potter about..so nice.
The boys eventually surface and after breakie, Tom takes Connor for a look around town.
Then they have some serious Mindcraft time together. Thomas has been so looking forward to this.
John and I have a relaxed morning..I sort out my craft things into my beautiful tin collection and John does some book research..
We head out to the recently renovated Apple Shed at Huonville for lunch.
Our friend Andrew Smith is part owner and the museum tells the story of his family...Four generations of Apple growers..we actually catch up with Andrew after lunch which is a nice surprise..
Then we go up on the hill to chase off 2 rogue sheep that have been enjoying feeding on the hay we have put down with grass seed. Thanks to the efforts of Connor...the sheep head south , back down to the property they belong...we see then back to their home turf, then make the climb back up the hill.
Connor and I walk through the property down to the bottom gate where John and Tom pick us up..
We drive the Cygnet Coast Road following the Huon River to Poverty Point and enjoy looking at the
amazing fossils...
.. but as the light fades and the rain comes in we decide it's time to head for home
.
A cosy night in..
Saturday we are up and out by 7.30ish..
Off to town to do Salamanca Market . We split up and all enjoy looking at various things.
Connor seems to enjoy the morning.
Morning tea at Cafe Kara then the boys go to 'The Lego Movie' while I do some shopping.
Hannah meets us in town and we have lunch together..
We take Connor almost to the top of Mt Wellington to see the view...but we have to head home so Tom can get to work on time.
We have a lovely relaxed evening.
Sunday is chilly, but a beautiful Easter sunrise
We have a lovely slow start again.
The boys ride down to Burton's reserve then to the sailing club before coming back to look through the Market.
Hannah and her friend Mark come down for a short visit. I have morning tea with then at Red Velvet...then they go up on the hill for a look about.
We have a delicious backed dinner for Easter Sunday lunch...then they have to head off back to town as Mark starts work at 2pm.
We go up on the hill to do some work..Great to have Connor's muscles!! we achieve quite alot in a short time.
Back home we have dinner then set up to teach Connor how to play Brandi dog...a card/board game Lioba gave us... John and Thomas are the victors!! We set a challenge rematch for tomorrow night.
Monday we are up and out early to drive down to Lune River..About an hour or so south west of here..and over the other side of the river. Connor is very keen to do some fossicking there. John found out that the guy at Salamanca Market on Saturday, has a mineral shop at Lune River....so we head there.
We get alot of very helpful advice as enjoy looking at the specimens they have collected.
It is about 4 degrees out...so we are well rugged up.
We drive to the first area and find some dug over sites to investigate. Connor really gets into it and is rewarded by finding a small piece of fossilized fern.
We have morning tea then go back to the shop to show off what we found so far..
I have fun taking photos of the beautiful plants..
Then we drive to another area..but it is not so exciting!!. We have a delicious car-boot picnic and fire up the Kelly Kettle for hot chocolate and tea...yummo.
On the way home we stop by the roadside, and John and I collect some fantastic little Macrocarpa seedlings to take home and pot up..
Glad to reach home...John and I crash and snooze for 10 minutes just to catch our breath.
Tom goes to work, and we pot up the trees..they will be great on the hill.
After dinner, it's Brandi Dog time again!! Thomas and Connor team up and we play two games...each team having a win..
A great weekend had by all...Connor leaves in the morning..We have had such fun...thanks for visiting!!
