Hobart Show Week

We have a very busy Monday with lots of orders and customers too...The day passes quickly.
Its lovely to have Hannah here studying...she came last night after work and will stay until Tuesday afternoon..
Thomas is very pleased to see Narns...they enjoy a bit of "tennis" practise out the back. This is Tom's latest interest.. (and luckily I found a Tennis racquet at a Garage Sale on the weekend!!)

Down to scouts for a special presentation by CBA...a donation to scout group so they can build a rock climbing wall..

Hannah and I have a walk in the beautiful sunny evening...up town and back through the Golf Course..

A nice quiet night of reading...and study for Hannah...

Lovely start to Tuesday...but quite cold out..

John has an early dental appointment in Huonville today.
The day passes with orders and jobs to do .
Lovely to have Hannah about studying.
Thomas has after school sport activity this term on Tuesdays... He is playing Tennis..
Hannah and I walk up to the Tennis Courts to get him at 4.15...Hannah has to head back to town tonight for work.
Early dinner and I go to first rehearsal with the "Swansong" choir... fantastic... about 40 women attend!!

Wednesday is grey again..
It is a really quiet one today...just a few orders on the morning. I spend a lot of the day working on making up a felt 'jester' to go with some DIY kits we have to sell.

The afternoon is beautiful and sunny so we make plans to go up on the hill for a picnic dinner after Tom gets back from 'work'..
But the weather turns and the rain and wind come in...brrrr... Feels like there is snow in the air...
We snuggle down at home instead..

Thursday is Hobart Show Day ...a public holiday . It pelts down a lot of the day. I don't even attempt to go out for a morning walk.. There are short breaks in the weather...then it comes down again.
Hannah has a sunny morning in Hobart..but there is snow on the mountain today.
Thomas goes down to help at Garden ..but soon returns...drenched!!
We crank up the fires and Thomas and I get to work unpacking boxes of new toys and re-arranging the display in the shop..It is a full day.

We get quite a few orders from the mainland as they do not know it's a holiday here.
We have a lovely quiet cosy evening watching Part 2 of First Footprints..

Friday and the sun is shining ...but it is pretty chilly out and the dark clouds are looming.

John is delighted to see the Archangelica looking so healthy.

Tom is home again as it is Pupil Free Day today..so he is looking forward to some serious lego time.
It's a busy, busy day today..
Tom enjoys a roam around town, lego, reading, writing and some iPad time...a nice day.
Even though the sun shines..the wind is so wild it brings sprays of rain from far away clouds..
I go up to the Top Pub to have drinks with the girls after work...haven't been up for ages. So lovely to catch up with everyone's news. They boys walk me up , which is such a special gesture..made me smile..
I make it home between showers of rain...so a quiet night in..

Saturday is cool with but there is some sun about and the rain seems to be holding off.
We spend the morning cleaning out the garage and the boys pot up some Macrocarpa's that are growing well..

After lunch we go up on the hill and tackle the gorse along 'wallaby wilderness' (Tom's name for this part of the property). Thomas has a great time photographing a lego figure in different settings to make a story..

We complete our work in this section then take a look at the other side of the paddock to find the next bushes to attack.
Then its home to have a well earned rest..
We lash out and have RV pizza with salad for dinner before watching 'A Knight's Tale'.. Tom loves all the jousting!!

Back to school routine...

Sunday and our plans to cut more gorse are scrapped as the rain rolls in..
We decide to go into town and show John TMAG..(Tas Museum and Art Gallery).
It's a good decision as the weather comes and goes all day.
We have a terrific couple of hours wandering through the various exhibits.

We have a tasty lunch at the TMAG café then head to Myer so Tomas can peruse the lego dept..(all in the name of research)
Then it's home again we go...travelling though sleet , rain and sunshine...

I manage to get out for a quick circuit walk of Burton's Reserve before the next downpour.
We are glad to be snuggled in at home for the night. We enjoy watching 'Kakadu' on ABC..

Monday and its back to the old routine..pre-school reading, recorder practise etc then Tom is off in summer shorts...even though it is barely 6 degrees...good to be a tough Tassie boy!!
Good thing the cattle don't mind the weather..

We have orders to keep us busy today...the weather doesn't warm up much..
Sadly...the car-park lights have gone up today.

We are a bit fearful of how bright they will be tonight. At lease they don't look too imposing in the daylight as the black poles blend into the scenery reasonably well.
The Town Hall lights are also repaired !!

Tom has a great day at school and is glad to go down to scouts tonight..
Still cold and grey outside ...and raining too!!
But there is a sudden break in the clouds and the sun shines...so I do a quick circuit of Burtons...lovely and brisk out!!

Tuesday and its another grey day..  but not as cold.

Thankfully the car-park lights did not impact on us too much. They are quite well shielded and create a gentle glow rather than a bright glare.
We get on with usual routine then make Bath Milks and restock shelves..
The pharmacy across the road has started is move up the street to the new building opposite the Post Office. They will be trading there as of next week...Wonder who will come in to the shop space opposite us?..
Next week will be the first meeting of a new choir in town...SwanSong...I look forward to participating..
The afternoon soon passes with a few orders to get done and customers too.

Wednesday and Thursday the weather comes and goes...it is decidedly chilly..

John and I take a look at the additions to the carpark...some tree planting and posts along the edge ...

We are stunned to her of the extreme temperatures and fires burning in Sydney while we shiver with a top of 12 degrees...

I decide not to go to garden when the rain and hail sets in...brrr

I decide to make a "flying" visit to Sydney to see the girls...
Friday starts well in Cygnet...and I get to Lucy's school to surprise her at 2.30 in the afternoon...
So lovely to see Miss Dabbs at work...

The a delightful catch-up at Chris' for afternoon tea..then to Libby's for the night.
Saturday and Lucy picks me up so we can surprise Jess and Aaron who are holding a Fundraising Garage Sale today for Aaron's RFDS car trek from Alice Springs to Margaret River WA in 2014...a terrific day. Wonderful to be there to help and hang out for the day...

Lucy donates some of the beautiful "The Sweetest Thing" cakes...and they sell really well.

A quick visit to give Ma a big hug..then back to Libby's for a relaxed evening..
Lucy and Paul insist on coming by early Sunday to drive me to airport..
Thanks to all for a terrific Sydney visit....
