Countdown to Advent

Sunday is a beautiful sunny day..
We prepare the shop for opening to take part in the Organic Expo..
I set up the PowerPoint display on our table along with brochures etc..

Its a good day..but not as busy as last year..

Alex has asked us if he can set up his vegie stall out front of our shop.... and later Cam comes with his bread stall...

Thomas enjoys a go of the Hoola Hoops..

I have a look in at the Eurythmy Performance in the Hall.

We take turns having a bit of a roam about.
There are a few people through the shop..but not as many as on some market days...
We close up at 2ish.. John and I take turns to have a snooze..
Then we go up on the hill to chip thistle.. It's just perfect up there today and we find it hard to head back down into town again..

Tom has fun hiding in the grass...

Tom and I make some delicious Tabouli with the parsley we bought from Alex this morning..I make some falafel and teamed with Saydeh's homemade hummus..its a delicious meal...

Monday is another lovely day.

We have a busy one with orders.. I have a really sore back so make contact with Nolan and have a Bowen treatment in the afternoon...which helps..
We are really please to see how well our plants are growing..

Tom is very excited about scouts tonight as they are going out on Ricci's fishing boat....
I have a combined Board Meeting with Sacred Heart Geeveston in Huonville at the new Trad training Centre.. (A polytechnic initiative purpose built to train in areas of Hospitality/Carpentry/Aquaculture/ Motor mechanics etc)  Very interesting evening...
Followed by dinner at the pub..The Grand... Delicious!!

Tuesday and its a cool start...
But the morning warms up nicely while I am down at community garden.. We get on with some weeding...but do a fair bit of chatting too..as we are all feeling a bit half- hearted today. None the less we do get a garden almost cleared for planting out Tomatoes and I sow some Calendula seeds..

The fruit trees are looking good

The afternoon is a nice mix of customers and orders..
After school, we all go up to wattle Grove to meet with Paul...the architect looking at our house project. We spend a good hour and a half walking around looking at different sites and talking..It's another magic day up there.

Tom and I spot a magnificent bird of prey circling high in the sky ...wonderful.
Back to RV for soup and bread (luckily there is still some left as we are late today). Have a delightful chat with Cate and Nina..
Home to usual evening routines...
Tom tries on the suit I bought over the internet... It should be Ok..
He looks pretty handsome (But the boots will need some polishing!!)

I do a bit of sewing on my dress for the wedding..

Wednesday is a sparkling morning..

The Year 10 Graduation/ Thanksgiving Mass is on today and I've been asked to attend as a Board member.. It's lovely..and amazing to see he whole school sitting fairly well through a long ceremony.

The Year 10 Graduates receive a candle as they process out. Nina Cumper (Steve from Red Velvet's daughter) is the red head on right.

We have orders to keep us busy in the afternoon.
Thomas has Footy Skills after school...and really enjoys it...
We enjoy a lovely evening at home..

Thursday and its warming up..
John makes an early start and leaves at about 6am to go up to Bob Hawkin's place on Sunday Hill Rd, to harvest Calendula from his garden. We top up with Calendula from our garden and I go down to the Community Garden and harvest what I can there..

The boys begin processing before school...then John finishes off. We yield enough juice for the next batch of cream to be made.

We have a number of customers through today. Can certainly see that the tourist season is picking up.
After lunch I go over to Tom's class. Kim spends the afternoon teaching the class songs and moves for the Christmas concert..(I'm crowd control, occasional child prodder...and moral support person...)
A really fun afternoon...
It reaches about 28 today...I can't face a burger dinner...so John and I have a delicious fruit salad with yoghurt and nuts...while Tom does his usual Thursday special...kid's burger and chips.
I'm having a lovely time working on Christmas gift ideas at night...
Tom and I are looking forward to setting up our Advent display in the shop ...to begin on Sunday.
He has had a great time unpacking boxes of Christmas things...just to have a look!!
This was a photo opportunity not to be missed.

Friday and we have a forecast 32 on the way today... Already on my walk I feel how warm it is...we had an overnight low of 22 .

St James Primary are going to Hobart today to see  "The Princess and the Pea" at the Playhouse theatre...followed by lunch at Sandy Bay Park...shame its so hot for them..
I go into Huonville to do a couple of things and boy...its hot!!
Back at work at 10am..I go to get a drink and meet Talon from across the road.. I tell her that today, I'm very glad to be on the colder side of the street.
We have orders and a nice array of customers through the shop too.
It seems that there are a few people doing their Christmas shopping here...which is nice.
The wind picks up during the day...and it is indeed warm. We are very lucky to have a delightfully cool place to work... the flat however, is warming up a bit.
There are a number of fires burning around the state.. we have seen some fire engines race through town heading to a small fire at Lymington.
After work we decide to drive to Blackman's Bay for dinner...which is delicious!!

Interesting to see the beach crowd..

Then Thomas enjoys a scramble around the rocks before we head home.

Its a very warm night...

Saturday and it has cooled down to a lovely mild day.
After a few chores are done, we set out for Huonville ..
The strawberry pickers are out early..

We purchase a chainsaw and some bits and pieces from the hardware.
Then its a quick stop in to the Tip shop...where John finds a few books ..then down to Geeveston to the Southern Design Centre..where there are books on sale..
On the way we spot lots of rowers out on the water at Franklin...must be racing today..

We find a bag of interesting books then go into Geeveston Town Centre for a cuppa. We visit another shop where John spots more books...go to the lolly shop (Tom is happy about that)..then buy some sushi for dinner ...Yummy.
Back at home...Thomas and I clear out one of the windows in the shop so we can set up the Advent pathway.. Tom loves doing this and is very excited that we will start counting down tomorrow..

The boys do some repotting of plants while I get on with a few things...

We are having family movie night tonight...my request...'Indiana Jones- The Last Crusade'..
So we get ourselves organised early-ish and enjoy the movie...having dinner at intermission..
Fabulous sushi!!
