Heatwave to hot water bottle

Sunday is market day so we will be opening the shop. John is happy to potter with books while I do some washing etc .
The boys harvest a Solidago vigaurea from the garden and process..

Hannah sleeps in after a late shift at Rockwall. She moves into her Uni accomodation this afternoon...we'll all go in to see where she'll be.
We sell a few books through the morning...and it heats up outside...32 degrees..
Hannah's move goes well and we drive back and have a quiet evening.

The week begins
..with a very hot day ..37 degrees...thankfully cool in the shop.
We have a busy morning of orders and potter with customers and other jobs in the afternoon.
We have a lovely science session with Tom after school...so fascinated by the Russian meteor story as well as 2012 DA14 Asteroid.
Tom goes back to scouts tonight...very excited.
It is so hot by the time I walk Tom down to scouts..I don't even consider doing the walk I'd planned.
We eat in the shop as it is so much cooler..
I do a walk around town about 9pm...its still 28 degrees...

Overnight a change comes through ...rain and some thunder and lightening...just wonderful...

I go down to garden and even though it still rains a bit it's such a pleasure to be digging up the garden bed with Liz and Laura.. We will probably plant Rocket that we can sell to Lotus Eaters..

We enjoy a cuppa  together with Kate, Carol and Peter..
I harvest some corn for our dinner ...(its delicious..)
John and I spend the afternoon sorting, pricing lots of books and putting them out on the shelves...and generally tidying the shelves.
Tom enjoys his our homework session...excelling in the maths tasks I set him..
I have a St James Board Meeting at 6.30...then its home for a read and bed..(with a hot water bottle!!)

Lovely cool morning with pretty sunrise ...its cosy back in the shop now the temeprature has dropped outside...

Tom is tucked up in bed and not keen to stir until he has to!!

More orders , book sorting and book sales are the order of the day..
Before long Tom is in the door.
We enjoy some English activities today..finishing with a game Lucy send to Tom...lots of fun.
I cook up a pasta vege bake as Saydeh has given us a bag of home grown zucchini..
After a walk to Martin's Point I'm ready for a warm shower and a quiet night.

Thomas finds himself a new spot in his room...

I head into town to do a few chores and catch up with Hannah. She is in need of a few supplies for her kitchen so I drop off a box of bits and pieces. We get our shopping done then have a cuppa together. She is enjoying being at her accomodation...but is very keen to get started next week.
The afternoon passes quickly..John is still on a roll with book sorting and pricing..
Tom and I have a great session on Aboriginal art of the Western Desert..

Its a lovely evening for a walk down to the sailing club. There is a group out in a row boat perhaps prasctsing for the regatta in a couple of weeks..

Hope to watch 'Catalayst on the Road' with Tom...he loves anything science related these days..

Definitely Autumn in the air these mornings...

Tom is very please to be wearing the new sports shirt for the first time today... (and I'm glad I don't have to wash the white one any more...especially after footy practise on a muddy oval!!)

The day is warming to mid 20's again but there is a nice breeze today.
We have a mixed day of orders and customers again...and John continues the big sort of books..
I notice the Monks' Hood is flowering in our garden...amazing flower.

Tom enjoys his morning of sailing on Saturday. It's quite windy during the morning..and the boat goes over...a real adventurous morning.
The black clouds come and go and the wind picks up through the day.

Thomas gets busy  during the afternoon making up some tinctures and mixtures from blackberries he has picked from the bushes in the laneway. John helps him set up a couple of different mixes as an experiment to observe ...one with water and sugar...one with alcohol..

We go over to the St James Garden to enjoy a Pizza/Wine night with P&F and staff...Not many attend which is a shame..The pizzas cooked in the outdoor oven are delish..
Tom enjoys watching "George of the Jungle " with some other boys who are there...good fun.

A very full but interesting day..

The working week begins and there is a definite chill creeping into mornings..
The days are shortening ...especially noticeable in the morning..

Even though Monday is a Public Holiday here for Regatta Day..we open as we have lots of orders in from the mainland. Its nice to see a number of tourists through the shop buying books too.
Finn comes in to play with Tom for the day. They enjoy lego, bike rides, chips for lunch at Red Velvet and some computer time. I drop him home after work.

Tom is glad to be back at school on Tuesday and John and I are again kept busy with orders.
I go to a Meeting with my Garden friends..a Council forum re Access to Town Buildings...a bit tedious...but worth having a say...then go down to garden for about half an hour.
Hannah arrives home in the afternoon...and soon gets a call-up for work at Rockwall that night and for Thurs , Fri and Sat too!!

The week is pretty uneventful...but the weather delightful...although a good steady rain would be most welcome..
Beautiful clouds Wednesday morning...
Lovely evening light and long shadows...

Thursday morning low cloud over Toby's Hill..
Tom enthralled with his Ninjago lego...
Thursday evening...dark skies and late sun make a dramatic view

 Friday morning low tide..
 Another stunning day...
The morning sun picks up the Geraniums next door
Love my fushias...even if they are hidden in the garden..
Saturday is a really hot and sunny day.
Tom is excited to begin his summer sailing program...perfect conditions today.
I enjoy the morning in the garden while John has a read of the paper..
Hannah is sleeping in after another late shift at Rockwall..
We all go down to see Tom sail in...

Its a quiet afternoon...very warm 27 degrees...so we potter in the shop where it is cooler.
I enjoy watching a wedding party arrive at St James at 3.30..

We have our dinner early as Hannah has work again tonight in Hobart. Its so hot we move our table outside and enjoy homemade pizza al fresco.

John , Tom and I go up on the hill and do a walk looking at proposed house  and road position again.
