Week 1 holidays...the pour..then Sydney

Beautiful morning light over Port Cygnet

We take advantage of this last week of early sunrises (pre-Daylight saving time) and go up on the hill to do some fencing before work...you can just imagine Tom's delight!!
But we actually do enjoy it..

The wind is a bit fresh though....

We have the company of a little potoroo...we suspect he is not well as he is very tame..(and indeed he does not survive the week)
My big boy is a great help as we fence together...

I take the opportunity to walk home as the weather is gorgeous...(how lucky to be able to walk to work through such beautiful country)
Another beautiful morning...

Hannah sends some lovely photos .
Jark visits her in Launie..while she is on prac....Happy people :)

Thursday is slab day...the weather has been pretty if-y so we are relived to see the cement trucks when we arrive on the hill at 6.30am..

John and Paul ...

Showers come and go...but nothing too serious..
We get on with more fencing..

We go up again in the evening and Lachie is hosing down the slab to slow down the setting process.
It must be kept wet for a couple of weeks..

Next morning we do an inspection..
The view from lounge room
...from kitchen looking west
...looking north west
Back to fencing...

Tom gives the slab a hose down..

The day passes quickly and before we know it we are in Sydney and on the train to Circular Quay..

Gelatissimo stop before going to our accommodation...

We are awake early...still in fencing mode...so walk down to see the NZ fur seal that has taken up residence on the VIP steps at the Opera House...

Looking forward to tonight...

The boys head back to have a game of Chess..
I take a walk through the Botanical Gardens ...

Love being a tourist in my home town...

I visit some old friends...

We make our way into the CBD and have breakie at Pablo and Rusty's..

Then do the lego shops and Dymocks...Tom's favourite haunts..

John heads off to a book Auction at Annandale while Tom and I go and visit Grandpa...lovely visit!

Sad to see the huge fig has been cut down...but Tom enjoys climbing it..

Back in town we have a rest, Tom gets in a swim in the hotel pool...then the boys have a quick game of Chess before we have some pre-theatre dinner.

Lovely evening for my favourite walk..to the Opera House..

Lavish production...gorgeous costuming...Lisa McCune is pretty ordinary...but I wasn't expecting alot.  Teddy is no Yul Brunner...but we enjoy the evening all the same.

A bleary-eyed Tom awaits breakie...(having lost an hour last night)

We enjoy a wander..

Then visit the MCA to see the Martu Exhibition.

I give Tom my camera and encourage him to take some detail photos...he has great fun...

We encourage Tom to look about and take interesting photos as we walk through town. He gets some great shots...

We hire a car and head to La Perouse  (via ToysRus)

Bliss....

It is a Sydney scorcher..33 degrees...and we sure feel it..
The La Perouse museum is very interesting..

Frenchman's bay is looking very inviting (Tom and I do have a quick dip before we leave!!..so refreshing)

We go over to Bare Island and enjoy exploring. There is an indigenous market Blak Market on today..Lots of interesting stalls and dancing too..

We retreat to a cool cafe for some lunch...Tom and I have our dip while John finds a shady tree.
Then we drive around to Maroubra and do a cliff top walk..lovely sea breeze..

Glad to slowly make our way to the air conditioned airport..then fly home...
Another great week..

And some delightful Benjamin photos to finish of course

Benjamin and mate William...

Don't you just love it...
