Home and Work

Well the weeks whiz by..
We are constantly busy at work...filling orders then manufacturing to restock.
There are still tourists coming through town...but it is not as busy as over the summer.
The sock weather was shot lived...
We are having odd warm weather...in mid to low 20's most days..
We had the occasional shower..but it doesn't hang around.

We long for the crisp Autumn weather to arrive...and desperately await the rain..
It is sooo dry .

Do you like my special rock?

Tom goes to Year 7/8 camp in Dysart (midlands area)
He has a good time...but it's a bit tame after Jamboree.

The boys got stuck into 'cubby' work the weekend after our Sydney jaunt.
There was alot of clearing to do...then they began getting windows in and putting up the internal cladding.

I worked in the garden, weeding and mulching the roses.
Then go on with scraping paint off windows for cubby.

Was a good weekend of work.

I had a quick trip to Sydney for my Aunty's funeral...
Lovely to catch up with family though.

Hit the ground running on Wednesday when I got home...we had such a busy day.

Thursday night was the first Knitwits for the year. A good turn out and we had a wonderful evening of chat and creating our various projects.
Tom had scouts so he met me back at the shop and as we travelled up together at about 9.30pm we delighted in the wildlife .. Saw a spotted quoll and a bandicoot on the way and lots of pademelons and Bennetts wallabies on our place.

Friday night was the opening of the Huon Art Awards in the Town Hall.
I made the presentation for Southern Swan's Student Art Award...A lovely evening with wine nibblies and lots of amazing art work.

We headed home to prepare for a big weekend.
We had a group of 7 Therapist/Practitioners visit over the weekend for a workshop on what we do here. They came from VIC/QLD/ WA/ NZ. Instigated by therapist Irmhild Kleinhenz..who prescribes out medicines and is mentoring the group.
John ran a workshop like this 2 years ago...but really doesn't like doing it... Its just not really his thing to talk  to a group. But he was OK once he got going...and even admitted that it wasn't so bad.
I love to sit in and learn too as John really does an amazing job of sharing what he is doing and why...

 Describing pharmaceutical processes
 Preaparing a 'carbo'

Demonstrating potentising powder (pulv)

 The stages..
Bryophyllum plants prepared for cultum preps.
 Priocessing Calendula

Filling Calendula cream made with fresh juice extraction

They all have a turn...not as easy as it looks...

It was a tiring weekend though and beginning the working week was a bit of a strain.
Lovely Hannah came down for a visit on Monday arvo and cooked dinner for us...what a Godsend she is.

We are slowly finding our routine in our new home.
It still feels like being in a holiday house...not quite sure where to put things or where things are..
During the week John and I are up at about 6ish.  I do my walk/jog up to the top gate , we have breakie etc, then John leaves to do some work in the shop while Tom and I do some music playing.
We head down about 8am...in time for Tom to put Scout Books out the front of shop before going to school.
I am doing my washing in town as our tank water has to be conserved...so I'll often do a load or 2 before beginning work.

In the afternoons...we close up when Tom gets in about 3.15pm.
Take the parcels up to the Post (which leaves Cygnet at 4pm) then either John or I will go home while the other of us stays in the shop to wait for Tom to finish work at the Garden Larder about 6pm.
I get dinner on then we chill out...
John is reading  Neville Shute's A Town like Alice to us ..It's a great story. And if we are lucky and he is not too exhausted..we get a chapter of two.

Tuesday afternoon...it is my turn to go home early...so I have a lovely walk down to the bottom Port Huon paddock.

On my way back to the house...I hope those grey clouds bring rain..

Tom is off to Scout Regatta at Snug this weekend...So he'll have to pack tonight.Scouts tomorrow night
I hope to get a row in the St Ayles skiff tomorrow afternoon at 5pm...
Til next time.....
