First week of holidays

Sunday and although overcast...it is not raining...Good for the campers.
John and I set out early to a Garage Sale. We pick up a few good music books then go up on the hill to cut more gorse.
After a couple of hours we decide to call it a day.
Home for a quick change then we head to Mount Nelson (near Kingston) for lunch at the Signal Station Brasserie...really nice. Great views (We do make a detour on the way to the Tip shop to look for books!)

We have a bit of a walk about the area then slowly make our way to the campsite.
Tom seems pretty happy to see us..
We pack up his gear then watch the closing ceremony..

One tired boy...
We go back up on the hill after a hot drink and cut a bit more gorse. (Thomas stays in the car lying down with a good book!!)
It's good to get home and settle in for the evening.
We are all in bed by 8.30!!

Monday and it's a lovely morning..

..we get on with our work day. Thomas has a slow start..he is feeling very tired today.
By late morning he has picked up a bit and he and John press some Calendula.

The afternoon passes quickly and Hannah arrives in from her first day 'on the job' at Snug Retirement Village..her nursing prac. placement. Lovely to catch up with her news..It's been quite awhile since we saw her.. After an early dinner, Hannah and I have a walk and then we all prepare for an early night.

Tuesday and Hannah and I are up at 5.30...she has to be at work by 6.45.. A thunderstorm passes through town with heavy rain to follow.. Luckily it clears by the time she leaves...
Tom and I had planned to go bike riding today while John holds the fort... we have to resort to plan B...and head to Hobart to TMAG...Tasmania Museum and Art Gallery.
It has recently been re-opened after renovation...a fantastic space with some fascinating exhibits.. we really enjoy ourselves...spending a good 2 hours looking around.

Then its lunch at Mures...Tom's favourite..chicken nuggets and chips!! before we drive home via Margate Cat Protection Society shop...in search of some children's "Animorph"books..no luck..
There are a few more orders to do and some customers to finish the day.
The sky clears for about half an hour so I take a walk down towards the sailing club..I just make it back before the next wave of rain..

Wednesday is a wild and wet day..
The boys head into town to look for books and have some fun..
I get on with a good clean of the flat and shop when they go...then head into work to get the orders done.
The rain doesn't let up all morning... But cosy with the fires going..

I'm kept busy with orders and customers...
The boys arrive back in from Hobart with books , books and more books...happy as...
We have a nice quiet night in watching last episode of "Nature of Australia"

Thursday and it is pelting with rain on and off. I can't decide whether to go to garden or not...in the end I go..and am glad as I help with moving the chooks from their muddy spot to a luscious new home...then we weed in the rain before sharing a cuppa together..nice. Tom comes down after a haircut and really enjoys hanging out with Riley. (the 11 yo grandson of one of the ladies).

The ducks are enjoying the puddles..

I rescue a very distressed who has just been chased by a dog.. I find it's partner and they happily waddle off together again.

Back at the shop...and we have a number of customers through the shop...holidaying tourists!!
After dinner I prepare the shop for our monthly knitting gathering...John calls the group 'The Knitwits'.. there are 6 of us tonight.. we are all working on different projects and enjoy the chat and a cuppa...a lovely evening.

Friday and it's not raining!! yay. Tom and I have revised our plans for the day. We had intended to go to Hobart Aquatic Centre...but will have a home/shop day instead and go next week. (both feeling a bit tired today) It is one of our slowest days...so we just have to go with it..
We sell a number of books which is good.
After work we go up on the hill to clear the 'cobwebs' from our heads..wonderful...wonderful.

Saturday (Happy Birthday Linda!!) is so wild and wind!! Hannah has stayed over after her work at Snug so we all enjoy breakie together. We are heading up on the hill to cut gorse. I decide to walk even though the wind is so wild it is quite mild out.
I walk up Kings Hill Rd and just reach the intersection of Jetty Rd as the boys are driving up...so I get a lift from there as it would take me a good 45 mins to get up to the land in this wind..

We begin work and Hannah arrives to give a hand as well. We do a few hours chopping and it makes such an impact..very rewarding work..despite the prickles!!

Back home and we treat ourselves to dumplings from Lotus Eaters for late lunch.
Then it's a slow relaxing afternoon of reading and snoozing. Hannah heads off to work in Hobart.
After a lovely Birthday chat with Linda we settle down to watch episode one of Orbit...a terrific BBC series.
