Wintery weather is back again...

Monday and its still warm...a predicted 21 degrees today!! (expecting 12 on Wednesday!!)
Busy morning of orders and its lovely to walk them up to the post before lunch..in the sunshine
John harvests beautiful Belladonna from our garden pots...to make fresh tincture..

After lunch John goes in to Huonville Tip shop looking for more pots....but oops..they are closed today!! Oh well , nice day for a drive.
Looks like there is a fire over Toby's Hill..maybe back-burning...

Tom is happy to head off to scouts and I walk the golf course circuit..
Yummy dinner then more "Ranger's Apprentice".

Tuesday starts warm and sunny..but rain is predicted later today.
I bake a Kugelhopf  for John's morning coffee snack.

We get some orders done, then John goes to the Tip shop in search of pots.
No luck with pots..but returns laden with books bought for the princely sum of $5-..good work!!
The weather turns and black clouds roll in..

I go and help out in Tom's class for the afternoon. Feverish activity preparing for Christmas Concert.
Love looking at the rose garden on the way..

Thomas is to be the Nativity Donkey..so I have made some ears over the weekend..

The rain holds off for Tom's after school tennis...but it is decidedly chilly.
Tom is very happy to unpack an Advent Calender sent by Aunty Linda... "When does Advent start Mum?"

I go in to Huonville for a Board Meeting at 6.30pm...a nice gathering..

Wednesday and it is a sunny but cold morning...expected top of 14 today (an improvement on 12 degrees I guess.)

It is a quiet morning with regard to orders...so we get on with pricing books and arranging them on the shelves. There are a number of customers in the shop early...
John gets his coffee from the Lotus Eaters and brings back a rose they have on their counter..for me to admire. Stunning..

John goes up in the attic to prepare an area for Lucy and Paul's bedroom while they visit next week with Jess, Aaron and Hannah....we are all looking forward to that!! Especially Tom!!  (He said to me this morning...'I can't believe our 'Christmas' is next week..already')
The day passes with customers and some orders..
Looking forward to a quiet night at home...

Thursday is grey and cold...

Tom heads off to school saying...this time next week his sisters will be coming!! Very exciting.
I rug up for garden and take wet weather gear as rain is coming in later today.
We get a lot done today...weeding  and planting out tomato, zucchini, sage and corn. The have a delightful lunch together...although the offerings today are more sweet than savoury!! We move the chooks before we go our separate ways..a nice morning. There is a little sprinkling rain on and off..but that doesn't worry us.

John has orders packed by the time I'm back...so does a run to the post office.
The afternoon passes with a few more orders in...and customers too.
The rain comes across and Tom and I do some homework before he heads to work..
Then he delights in going out with bow and arrows before dinner...while the rain has stopped...
Lovely quiet evening..finishing Ranger's Apprentice (book 1)....11 more to go!!

Friday is drizzly and grey.. we all hope this weather passes by next week...for our visitors.
Lots of orders to start the morning..
The day brightens..and we see more people down the street.
Tom arrives in from school and we get on with usual afternoon activities before he goes to work.
No drinks at the pub this arvo as too many are away or busy.
A quick walk after dinner.. The hardware has made an attempt to beautify their fencing!!

There is a lot of activity in the hall as preparation are being made for staging of a Pantomime next weekend..

We snuggle down to Rangers' Apprentice and then the last episode of 'Miss Fisher'..

Saturday is a dreary ,drizzly day.
John heads into town to do some pre-Christmas shopping...
Tom and I make a start doing a clean-up of his room then it's down to Sailing he goes.
They are still going out despite the weather.

I spend the morning cleaning, then go and get Tom.
He had a great time...but is glad to get home to a hot shower and hot chips!!

John arrives in from a successful shopping trip.
After lunch we go up into the attic and prepare Lucy and Paul's 'bedroom' and tidy up Hannh's space too.

I make a second batch of 'Rum and Raisin Christmas Truffles' for teacher Christmas gifts..

We potter with various things and have early dinner before watching part 1 of Lord of the Rings -The Two Towers...

Sunday...and its still grey and wet.
We enjoy a relaxed start...with some reading...
Tom and I get on with some 'Christmas' sewing..

The boys make some more arrows for Thomas' archery practise.
We head up onto the hill after lunch . John chips thistle, Tom does archery and I collect boxes of kindling. It is wild and windy...very bracing weather.

Back home , John sets up a 'nest' for Thomas in our room and we make up a bed for Jess and Aaron..
Getting exciting now.

I pick a little bowl of raspberries for our desert tonight..yummy.

I make a batch of Lucy's special sausage rolls....a family favourite!!  They are ready by 5pm and the boys are hungry so we eat dinner really early!!.
The boys go out and do some 'cat hunting' with Tom's archery set....
Tom spots some large bits of packing behind one of the shops up the street..that will make great targets. They bring them home and paint a target pattern..

The evening rolls in and we enjoy some more Ranger's Apprentice before Tom settles into his nest...

A grey wet week..then the sun shines!!

Monday is a chilly day..
We get the fire going then it's heads down with orders all day long... A very full-on day.
Tom doesn't have scouts tonight due to the weekend festivities...so we do a bit of homework. One task is to practise his knot tying...he does pretty well.

A relaxed evening..

Tuesday and the rain is back..its a cool one again today.
We have a pretty slow morning...but sell some books.
I go over and help in Tom's class after lunch... A lot happening...Christmas concert rehearsals/ card making and organising of Christmas gifts for families..
Choir tonight is not so inspired as Helen is a bit ambitious...and we labour for 2 hours with the harmony parts of a new piece...never quite getting it together...a bit disappointing.

Wednesday and the rain has been coming down all night.
I head into town to do some shopping and catch up with Hannah for early lunch..

John has had a quiet day with a few good book sales and some orders..
The rain eases and the sun makes an appearance so I walk the Golf Course circuit after dinner..
Not long after I'm back the rain pelts down again!!

Thursday and we wake to pelting rain again..
I decide not to go to garden as I have a few things I have to do..pretty wet anyway..
Hannah drops in for an overnight visit...
Tom is going to Kington this evening with the scout group. There is a Questacon exhibition at the Sports Centre..should be fun. John and I decide not to drive him this time...and Tom is happy for us not to be there..
Hannah cooks us a delicious dinner and I bake a cake..
Tom arrives in full of things to tell us...
Hannah and I do a movie...then off to bed.

Friday and though the clouds are still here ...there is no rain this morning..
We may even get to 15 degrees today...a scorcher!
Getting a bit tired of wearing winter clobber.
Hannah and I have a walk to Martin's Point halfway through the day..

A quiet morning..so John makes an Urtica urens gel and we fill and pack..
The sun comes out by late afternoon...

I walk up to the pub to have drinks with the girls...but no-one is there today...a nice walk anyway.
Glad to be home and snuggle down for the night.

Saturday and it's a stunningly beautiful sunny day.
Fantastic morning for Tom's sailing.
John and I go to a Garage sale where John picks up a couple of good clamps..
I get a few jobs done while John reads the paper...then Thomas is picked up from sailing and we go to the Huon Show.
Gorgeous day for it..we enjoy wandering around.

I end up working at the St James stall for an hour or so..selling raffle tickets and 'show bags' while the boys do the rounds..
View from the St James stall

We take in the sights then head home via bakery where we have late lunch.

I enjoy a walk while Tom is at work then its dinner and 'Lord of the Rings Pt 2

Sunday...another glorious day...
Great for washing...
We do the markets...John and Tom make some more arrows for Tom's bow...then we go up on the hill to cut gorse.
We find a lovely shady spot to set up 'camp'...Tom enjoys practising his archery while John and I work...

Then he too does a bit of gorse work...good on you Tom.

Lovely spot for lunch..
then we make our way back up to the car after hacking at one more gorse.
It's such a lovely day..I get the boys to drop me at the Sailing club so I can walk home along the foreshore..

We have a quiet afternoon and I take another walk around Burton's Reserve after dinner as the lovely evening is calling me outside..
A quiet night enjoying John reading the new adventure book.."The Rangers' Apprentice"
