Last week of October..Birthday weekend...

Sunday and it looks like a lovely day ..
We head up onto the hill after breakfast and get stuck into the gorse we saw yesterday.

Tom always enjoys morning tea break!!

He finds a nice little cubby nook to sit in while John and I work..
Then roams about with 2-way radio reporting gorse sightings!!

We head home for late lunch via the top paddocks then though bottom paddock..
Snow on Hartz Mountain in the distance (and you can feel it in the breeze)

The boys stop to chip thistle around the bottom dam.
We potter at home for the afternoon.
I bake a cake and prepare a lasagne for dinner while John snoozes then does some work with his medicinal plants. Tom goes to work then enjoys some tennis practise and bike riding out the back in the carpark. It's a gorgeous afternoon..
We  have dinner then enjoy watching the final episode of Kakadu.

Monday is a sparking sunny day.
We have lots of orders through the day and take turns having a leisurely stroll to the post office to enjoy the sunshine.

Tom is happy to head to scouts (especially as he has had a hammering with times tables for homework!!....he is getting much better at them)
I take a walk down to the Sailing club...nice out..
Lovely to see some colour in our garden..

Tuesday and the hardware is now surrounded by a fairly unattractive fence...so they don't have to pack up all the plants every day..
My morning run takes in the local 'families' out early...the geese family hiss at me, the Crested Plovers screech  at me while their little ones run for cover, the Native hen parents round up their 3 little ones and run like rockets into the long grass, the swan family make for the water while the while faced herons take to the air.

Tom likes to sleep as long as possible in the mornings!!

We have a few orders to keep us busy..
I package up more toys for a counter display...hopefully they will sell over the summer.

After lunch I go over to help in Tom's room.
Spend the afternoon cutting out and mounting 'Disco' words to put up around classroom for School Fair. (Tom's class will be a disco!!)
Lovely evening at choir learning a couple of new pieces...one contemporary ..the other medieval.

Wednesday ..Tom's athletics carnival day at Huonville...he is happy going off with some lollies to share and money for canteen..Hopefully the sun keeps shining today...not exactly warm out.
We are flat out all day with orders...good to be busy.
Tom comes in beaming...he has two ribbons and has had a great day.

We have a relaxed evening ..

Thursday is a bit chilly to start. We get quite a bit done at garden. Constructing a tee-pee frame and sew beans, weeding, moving the chooks and I repaint the Garden sign so you can read it now!!

It is a busy afternoon and I have to head to an extraordinary Board Meeting from 5pm...so there goes Thursday...

Friday is grey with the promise of 21 degrees...we'll see.
Busy morning.. We are heading off this afternoon after work to go up the coast to Swansea for the weekend...a birthday treat.. I had booked to go to Maria Island on Sunday..but sadly the ferry has been cancelled (needing sudden repairs) and the alternative ferry can get us over..but not back again ...so we'll have to do a rain-check on that.
We head off after 4 on our weekend adventure..stopping at Orford for some dinner...then stopping at the Spiky Bridge...Tom (and John) decide to climb it.

We have a walk down along the beach and around town before snuggling down for the night..

Saturday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIBBY!!...
After yummy birthday breakie in bed we have a long walk up the beach collecting shells along the way. So many different shells in such a small area.

We head walk back into town to explore cafes, Vinnies, Bear cottage!! and wander the streets looking at the lovely houses and gardens.

After lunch and a rest time at home we walk up the other end of the beach around the headland..

So many amazing piles of stones.

We fill in time before dinner cruising around..and stop at a park for a play...

Then walk along another beach..

Delicious dinner at 'The Ugly Duck Out' cafe...then home to watch 'The Wizard of Oz'. (Tom's scout group has The Wizard of Oz theme for their Christmas float...so it was research!!)

Sunday and despite it being chilly in the wind, the day starts fine. The weather swings around and gives us some spectacular skies...amazingly.. we manage our walks without getting wet..

Before leaving Swansea, John wants to take a photo in the general store...

He is captivated by their incredible array of ..plungers!!

We drive south and have a wonderful walk around the headland rocks at Spring Beach.

John backtracks to drive the car around to the next beach to meet us...
We just have time to have lunch at the car before the rain comes in ...so lucky..
The weather deteriorates as we head south..
We are glad to reach home and snuggle down for the night...It has turned really cold so we get the fire going..
