Beautiful sunrise to start the day.
It will be scorcher today...37 degrees... but cool in the shop
We are kept busy with orders most of the day ...and the occasional customer. (coming out of the heat)
The tourist numbers have dropped away..as everyone gets back to work.
The boys get to work on a Qwenling cream...our natural insect repellent. Selling alot to Qld, NT and WA..they love it.
I remember that the St Ayles skiff built by some local friends is being launched this afternoon...but just too hot to think of going to watch. I have a walk later in the evening...very smokey out.
Glad to get to bed early after a busy day.
Wednesday and it is magically cool this morning with a top of 19 predicted...Ah much more bearable.
Our day is a mix of orders ,customers and cream packaging..
Tom picks up his Book pack from the Newsagent and happily checks off the list of goodies. Then he sorts out pencil case and starts getting book labels designed on the laptop.
It is a lovely cool evening. Tom goes out and does some archery practise before dinner.
Nice to snuggle down in bed tonight.
Thursday is a lovely day...
After doing a few orders, I go down to Garden.
There is a big group today...Fantastic. We get so much done. Watering, planting out seeds, weeding and constructing a shelter over the Bramley Apple..we move the chooks...then enjoy a delightful lunch together. Much conversation and laughter .
Back at the shop there are more orders to do..
John and Tom prepare a Viscum tincture...then make a Calendula oint.
Tom is delighted that a lego kit he ordered on Ebay has arrived...
After work we get organised for an early dinner then watch 'The Golden Compass'...DVD bought for $1 at Vinnies in Kingston a couple of weeks ago.
Friday is warm again..
We are kept busy throughout the day with orders to do and cream to fill and pack..
Thomas is delighted with a parcel received from Auntie Linda!!
He does some reading while John works on the cream.
We are glad to have a quiet night at home..
Saturday is a gorgeous morning.. It is going to be a hot one today..
We have a leisurely start,
pottering with some jobs around the house...
Tom is growing into such a big lad...
We take a few shots of his Ranger books for the blog!!
then go up on the hill for a walk..
On the way we stop at our friend Deb's place. She has started up a little business from her home..doing well after only 8 weeks..
Lovely up on the hill...Tom has great fun with the hay bales..
The boys drop me back in Cygnet then head to Huonville to buy supplies to make more arrows..and take a look at the tip shop for books.
I'm happy to hang out more washing then have a rest...not feeling 100%..with a scratchy sore throat .
On their way home, Tom AND John have a swim in the river at the Cradoc boat ramp... Wish I'd seen that!!(knowing how much John dislikes swimming) John said he had to go in so Tom would follow..What a lovely Dad!! They both agreed it was very refreshing on such a hot afternoon..
After Tom gets back from his job at the larder...we all go to a BBQ gathering at the Thomas' shack at Randall's Bay. Anne (the principal) has invited staff and Board members and families to get together.
Tom enjoys another swim even though the tide is low..
I enjoy chatting with staff and board friends. We meet Mary, Anne's sister who will be one of Tom's teachers this year...delightful.
We head home about 8.30pm and manage a chapter of 'Ranger' before bed!!.
Sunday and it is going to warm up again.
It is market day so Tom and I give Kate and her friend David a hand to carry her market goods into the hall.
It will be a slow market day today as it is the annual Targa Car rally in our area today. It means that a lot of the back roads are closed during the event and locals can't go out.. (or they have to decide to go out all day!!) There is a constant stream of cars moving down the street all morning and they end up in the carpark behind us..
We make our way along this pretty road..stopping to photograph some Wedgetail eagles soaring overhead..Magnificent.
We stop at Big Roaring Beach...a stunningly beautiful spot. Enjoy our picnic then Tom goes in for a swim...just a bit too chilly for me!!.
We drive home via Dover ..
and stop at Huonville for a drink...
Pretty warm at home.
After Tom is back from work, he and John go up on the hill for awhile...I am just dozing off..so decide to stay put..glad to rest as still feeling head coldy..
A really lovely quiet night at home ...we listen to a terrific broadcast of Die Fledermaus from The Metropolitan Opera Series..very lively...even gets John 'waltzing about' to Thomas' great delight!!
