The joys....

Thomas is very excited..
His 11th birthday on Tuesday, he and I fly up to Sydney overnight to see Jess and Benjamin (visiting Libby), then Paul and Lucy are coming down for the Long Weekend..wow!!

Monday evening, Tom delights in helping make cupcakes to take to school tomorrow for his birthday..

Tuesday and Thomas is 11.... he is up bright and early..eager to unwrap pressies. Happy with the distinct Minecraft theme this year.

Hannah arrives halfway through the day..so lovely to see her.
Tom and his friend Callum arrive in from school and have a terrific time playing the afternoon away.
The evening light is so beautiful it draws me out to take some photos..

We have a wonderful celebration dinner, enjoying each other's company.

Guess where John got this idea from...Thanks Tom!!

Wednesday Hannah sets up to study in the warmth of the shop once the boys have gone off to school.

John and I get on with some admin work today as there aren't many orders.
This afternoon Tom and I will fly to Sydney to stay at Libby's overnight.
We are going to see Jess and Benjamin tomorrow as they will be in Sydney for a short while.

What a delightful time we have..
We catch the train out to Rhodes where Libby picks us up and we visit Pa in Hospital. He is surprised and happy to see us I think. So lovely to be able to give him a big hug.

Jess messages us early Thursday to say she will be over soon...
Chris , Libby and I take turns coo-ing over beautiful Benjamin...and enjoying catching up with Jess.
Tom is quickly 'over' the novelty of the baby and retreats to the stairs to play Minecraft..

After a wonderful visit at Libby's (BIG THANKYOU  LIBBY) Jess, Ben, Tom and I go up to Top Ryde to do some birthday lego shopping (Thanks to Sandra!!). Tom enjoys 'driving' the pram...but soon loses interest when we reach the lego department..

We stop for a drink and a long last hug before Jess drops us to the station for our homeward journey..
It has been such a lovely lovely day..

But the fun continues..
We meet up with Lucy and Paul at the airport as they are flying to Tassie for the long weekend and are on our plane..

Hannah meets us at the airport to pick up Lucy and Paul who are staying with her overnight. Thomas goes with them..and they have dinner at Rockwall..
I drive back to Cygnet and dear John has the fire roaring and everything cosy.

Loving following Aaron's RFDS Outback Trek through WA..such an amazing adventure..
This is my favourite shot. (good looking windscreen)

Friday ..HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY LUCY...

Hannah has arranged for her friend Mark (from now on to be referred to as Jark) to cook up a special birthday breakfast for Lucy..Looks delicious.

Then they plan to go the Bruny Island...but just miss the morning ferry by a couple of minutes...oh well...they have a walk and get the next one across.

I get busy baking a birthday cake for Lucy as they will be arriving for dinner.

John and I have a busy day at work.
John has to go to the dentist to get a tooth pulled...no fun at all...but he survives and is in good spirits when he gets back.
I get the occasional message during the day to say all is going well on Bruny....little do I realise just how well the day is going!!

They arrive in and I am in cooking mode...
After hugs, Lucy says very casually...'I got a rock today'...takes a moment for the penny to drop...then I see the Engagement Ring!! How exciting!! (Hannah is poised with camera and captures the moment)

Then it is group hug time...and I hear the details...such happiness and delight...

Hannah and I prepare their sleeping area in the attic while Lucy and Paul ring the rels to share the good news.
I get the full story (with re-enactment photos!!)

We have a very happy celebratory dinner...even manage to find some figurines to convert the birthday cake into an Engagement cake!! (may the force be with you)

We finish the day with some Brandi dog...(the brilliant card/board game that Lioba gave us).
(Cheesy grins for Jark)

Saturday, John is up before light to drive to the middle of the Island to harvest  Aqua Sphagni. It is pelting down...what dedication..
The rest of us have a slow start.

Tom is supposed to be doing Archery today...but the weather is pretty iffy...so he decides to give it a miss.
We do the tourist thing and visit The Apple Shed to try out the Willie Smith Ciders...cosy there. (and I enjoy a hot drink).

Then back to Huonville oval so Tom can give his new present (from Lucy and Paul) a workout.

It is pretty chilly so we soon head to The Cat's Tongue for lunch and waffles...yummo.

John meets us there on his way home...then continues on his way.
Tom and I are dropped home so the others can visit Elsewhere winery..

We meet up on the hill some time later.
It is all hands to work as we make plant cages in preparation for planting tomorrow.

Hannah drops Tom back to Cygnet to work...and the rest of us have a lovely walk and pick up some kindling before heading home.

Hannah, Lucy and Paul prepare a delicious dinner...what a treat for me!!
Then it's time for more Brandi Dog...this time with Tom playing.. I take over when it is his bed time..

Sunday after breakie, we slowly make preparations to go up on the hill.
Lucy is going to try cooking up a stew in the camp oven John bought from Talan.. so she cuts up the veges etc while I mix up a couple of dampers..

Hannah is head down with study and will join us later..
Up on the hill we prepare the fire sites the leave Lucy and Tom to prepare lunch.

John, Paul and I get busy planting and caging...quite time consuming work. It is fantastic to have Paul's help as we get alot more done..

Lucy and Tom bring around fresh baked damper...yummo.

Hannah arrives with coffee for the boys...and sets herself up to keep busy until lunch is cooked.

Lunch is absolutely delicious...wouldn't expect anything less with Lucy cooking...

We get back to work and before long it is time for Hannah to drop Tom down to work
The rest of us finish off planting...then get 2 more boxes of kindling..
Home to a cosy fire and we all help ourselves to the many leftovers on offer.
Tom enjoys 4 games of Brandi Dog with his sibs..
I am exhausted and crash into bed long before they do..

Monday is a chilly one. Lucy, Paul and Hannah decide to have breakie at RV...so John ,Tom and I join them there to have a drink.

I take a photo of Lucy and Paul and am reminded of the lovely photo of Ma and Pa...showing off the engagement ring..

After a short review of my computer issues (Thanks Paul), it is time for them to head into town to get to the airport in time.
We have had such a wonder time. What a gift to be given...an Engagement...happy times. (I will have 3 sons)

John, Tom and I go up on the hill and continue with our planting.. (I miss Paul- my tree planting buddy) . It is a beautiful afternoon.

Back home to get Tom to work..then he goes to scouts ...busy busy busy.
I have Swansong tonight (swapped to Mon for the next 2 weeks)...but I am too tired to even think of going. In bed by 8pm instead!!

All the while...I have been receiving gorgeous photos of my darling Ben. Miss him.
