December arrives...

Again, life takes over and we seem to go from week to week in the wink of an eye.
Despite 'Summer' arriving, we are having mild and wet weather...with the occasional sunny day.
Not great weather for brick laying the internal walls...but slowly ,slowly...

I love living in a country town...the signs in the small IGA I pass each morning...always make me smile..

See the walls are going up.. sewing/guest room
 Master bedroom..

Cygnet goes all modern...with snazzy Christmas banners...I just hope they come down after Christmas rather than fading the year away looking sad...cringe..

Love the light hitting town as I head back home in the mornings

I make a start on the toile of Lucy's wedding dress...well toile number one anyway...

I miss beloved Ma...especially when I begin sewing projects.

Remembering the good old Christmas tradition of the Pud hanging in the doorway..

Garden is busy this week...we spend the whole morning thinning the apples

Thursday night John and I attend a Thank you dinner at the scout hall along with others who gave a hand at the Monster Garage Sale.  A lovely evening.

Friday evening Tom heads off to Charlotte Cove scout camp...very keen to get there..

John spots a Hyoscyamus sprouting in the most unlikely place...our gravel driveway.
Couldn't get them to grow in our garden in Sydney!!

Saturday morning John and I go into Huonville and pick up a brushcutter..
After a cuppa at The Cat's Tongue.
Then it's up to the hill to give it a workout..
Fantastic to be able to clear around out trees and bushes

John mulches and waters while I brushcut.

Then we do a thistle chipping walk down to Petchey's Bay paddock..

Great view of the house from this angle

We are so tired by the time we finish, John suggests we go into Huonville for a bite to eat.
We enjoy a simple meal at Rustic Reflections..

Sunday we go back up and work for a few hours continuing to clear, mulch and water..

Then we head down to Charlotte's Cove to pick up Thomas from scouts.
We watch the final parade..

My heart is so heavy this week as I think of Virginia Hughes losing her dear son.
Phillip would have had a special bi-centenary birth certificate...just like my darling Lucy...born the same year..
We didn't have a bat to put out...so I found a couple of appropriate books to display instead.

 Speaking of treasured boys...
Dear Ben is not so well this week...loved and cared for all the more xx
