Sunday began with the filling and packing of the Calendula cream. Once finished we began to prepare to make and package Eucalyptus/Plantago.
We headed off to Kingston Beach after breakfast to a Book Fair at the hall. We were pleased to find some bargains and enjoyed the process of browsing and discovery!!. Popped across the road to Citrus Moon Cafe for morning tea...an enjoyable break.
Then back home to have a quick scout around the Markets in the Town hall and then make the Eucalyptus Plantago before heading out to Roches Beach to pick up Thomas. (no phone calls form him today!!)

On arrival, everyone was outside and packed up preparing to leave...Tom came racing over for a BIG hug and was all smiles..if a bit grubby!!(they had face painted last night and the remnants still remained ,giving hime a curious hue!!)
After a quick look at a favourite spot of his we headed home. It didn't take long for Tom to crash.
We all had a Nanna nap then Tom settled on the floor to play lego and listen to 'James and the Giant Peach' while John and I filled and packed the Eucalyptus/ Plantago... We all slept well that night.
Monday was quite cool with mixed sun and rain...Had a nice walk meeting some of the local wildlife.
That evening we were determined to do the tasks we had planned to do over the weekend.
John got busy in the garden planting out our lovely array of plants.
I wanted to cut the lining off the curtains as they were too heavy looking..a very tricky job up the ladder.. We were both happy and satisfied with our handiwork!!
Tom and his newly found friends (purchased with his own wages) |
Oh I forgot to show our new gate...looks terrific!!
I decided to go for an evening walk as my back felt quite twingey. Enjoyed exploring another pocket of town with many quaint cottages...a lovely stroll.
Tuesday...and Oh No!!!....I could barely move...the back twinge had turned into full blown spasm and PAIN!!... John too was feeling his knee joints creaking....terrible to be getting old!!.
I shuffled through the day on hefty doses of Brufen and a hot pack strapped to my back.
We packed some amazing orders today...completed the box to go to Wendy in Taiwan, sent some creams to a Carol in Glasgow,Scotland, emailed Michael (who is currently using our products in India) about his order to go to his practise in Katherine,NT...along with various parcels to Vic and NSW.
We had more new customers through the shop. A fellow who has moved here 18 months ago from West Pennant Hills and another women who was visiting her mother last week in Cherrybrook!! It is such a delight to hear their stories of discovering life in Cygnet.
Sadly I could not hobble over to Craft in Tom's class today...and they did Christmas craft too!!.
Oh well there is always next week.
After work I had to lie down for the afternoon...feeling quite exhausted.
John finished packing up orders then he and Tom went down to the park for a play.
We, all three, made dinner of pasta and sauce followed by a treat...chocolate hearts!!
Glad to get to bed at the end of the day..
Wednesday and John made and packed a Copper ointment while packed a swag of orders that come in from WA.. one after the other..Coincidently I was chatting with Robyn (a literacy support teacher at St James who has moved here from WA!!).
Revved up to a slow walk today so my back must be improving..
More new visitors to the shop came through today. Selling oils creams and books too!!.
Tom and friends walked past about lunchtime...there is Teacher who takes a group to the Park lunchtime Wednesdays and Tom now joins in this group each week..
Usual post office runs this arvo...lovely to be out in the warm sunshine.
Had an unexpected visit from George and his wife Mira ( from the IGA) They dropped in a large box of chocolates and card as a welcome to the neighbourhood gift...really lovely.
Tom and I unpacked a toy order once we'd closed...such a fun thing to do.. Tom loves opening all the parcels as he said it feels like someone's birthday!!
We all had a walk down to the water as it was a beautiful evening..(well Tom scootered!) I couldn't stride out due to my painful back...but it felt great to be able to take small steps...
John delights in finding buttercups and testing if Thomas 'likes butter' by placing the flower under his chin...if it glows yellow the answer is yes....
The boys had a climb down to a tree overhanging the water while I took a rest on the seat and enjoyed the view.
We met Rob and Lisa (from the Post Office) on their evening walk. Lisa commented that Thomas could do with a scooter with wider wheels on the gravelly path..making the remark that they don't sell those at the post office!! (Tom has got a bit of a reputation for spending his wages on the delightful treasures that Lisa puts on the counter at the Post Office )
Tom likes to scooter on the boardwalk |
Thursday was a sparkling morning followed by a magic day... lots of lovely customers and orders coming through...had a very short walk this morning ...good to be able to stretch my steps a bit further.
Tom and John did a Post Office run with big parcels then Tom decided to attend the Craft Class at Balfour House (our local art studio/house). Judy, the artist in resdience frequently runs different courses in her studio. Tom was doing Christmas craft...had alot of fun and is keen to go again next Thurs.
We decided to go up the hill to Wattle Grove and have a picnic dinner as the afternoon was so beautiful. We saw that the council has put up a notice re our planning application for the house and shed..exciting.

A quick sword fight before bed time...as you do |
Friday was another beautiful day after a foggy start. A steady mix of orders and customers again .
John's work in progress |
The day just sparkled..such a lovely view out our front window.
Beautiful St James across the road |
I'm having fun playing with the curtains in the flat during the day..so glad I took the lining off those northern curtains!! Much nicer with filtered light.
Ryan rang today for a catchup chat as he returned from India on Wednesday. The inauguarion of the hostel building he designed pro bono ,went really well. He did meet the Dali Lama and sent us through a couple of photos..he said it was quite an amazing experience. He will be dropping in next week to show us more photos..can't wait to see them.
I set up a toy display on the table and John put books in the window. The window display attracted the attention of a number of people who decided to come in for a browse...really lovely.
Friday evening we decided to travel to Margate and have dinner at Brookfield Vinyard where a concert was being held by a Medieval group called Harlequin. It was a fabulous night...lovely atmosphere..hardly any people and a great performance. Tom enjoyed being able to go upstairs to view the show from there.
It was a late night and Tom slept on the way home as the rain began to fall.
Saturday was overcast but the rain held off until the afternoon. We went in to Hobart to do some Christams shopping for Lioba, and to pick up various other goods we needed for the shop from Officeworks and Myer. We also bought a tent as we plan to go exploring up the north east of the island for Hypericum in two weeks time...should be fun.
John spotted these flowers which have medicinal properties that I can't recall...but his delight I can recall!!..
We headed home to an afternoon snooze.
Then had late lunch. John got on with more book pricing while Thomas and I began to set up our Advent trail in the shop window...a lovely afternoon's activity.
