A usual week ...then unexpected surprise!!

Very quiet out this morning...beautiful morning sun after heavy rain last night.

I finish bottling up the plums and they look pretty good.

It's market day over at Carmel Hall today as the 'Watermark" art exhibition is still on in the Town Hall. We open for the morning and do a few orders...but it is very quiet customer-wise.
We decide to close up...have some lunch  a quick snooze for John...then we go up on the hill for another walk..The weather comes and goes while we are out...but we enjoy it all the same.

Tom amuses himself with his walking stick.

Lovely rainbow on Sunday afternoon..so wonderful to see the rain falling..

Our week is busy as usual with lots of orders to send out and a nice assortment of Autumn tourists coming through town..
The mornings are cool and dark as I walk...but the sunrise  when I get home is stunning..

We have a productive and relaxed meeting with Paul who is drawing up plans for our house. We feel as though we are getting much closer to achieving a design we will be happy with on the hill.
Tuesday evening I have a Board Meeting at Sacred Heart School Geeveston. (about 45 min drive the other side of the river). We have a tour of the school, followed by a combined meeting with Sacred Heart Board...then the St James Board meeting...a long night..but interesting all the same..

Wednesday is a quite warm  25 degrees..after a cool start.

We have orders to keep us busy all morning and a couple of book customers too.
Hannah spends the day studying here..and has a Dr appt. to begin getting her immunisations in order for prac.
We have a lovely walk down to Sailing Club after an early dinner, while the boys stay at home reading and romping. Then Hannah drives back to town for the night.

The weather changes on Thursday with some heavy rain falling during the morning...after a colourful sunrise.

I go down to Community Garden and spend the morning with Laura in the poly tunnel doing some weeding and tidying to stay out of the rain

We relocate the chooks to a new garden bed to be dug over next week then have a cuppa..
More plums were harvested as well as some Cox's Orange Pippin Apples..

Tom and I do some project work after school...looking at habitats around Uluru.
We do a painting after learning about the habitats..Tom really enjoys this.

We enjoy watching "'Kangaroo Dundee" before bed..

Friday is very grey and the rain rolls in during the morning..

Tom has a follow-up Dental appointment at lunchtime in Huonville.
We have had some unexpected news....we put a low offer in for the property adjoining our land( yellow )...and have been accepted!! We had the opportunity to buy this land some time ago...and were sorely tempted....so this time we thought we'd make an offer...just to see..
It is a beautiful addition to our land and gives us the option to do a boundary adjustment with our lower neighbour to sell the bottom paddock that is less accessible..
We will make arrangements with our neighbour (previous owner Steve) to agist his cattle on the land.

Tom enjoys his sailing on Saturday even though there is not much wind at all..He delights in being in the towing boat as they come into shore.

We spend the afternoon up on the hill walking the land and collecting thistle heads before they spread seeds.. The weather comes and goes...a very Tassie afternoon..

Autumn light ...tooth crisis!!

The mornings are beginning with beautiful Autumn sunrises....but the days warm up to high 20's/low 30's...feeling more like Sydney weather.

Monday is a Public Holiday here but we open all the same...and are very busy with orders that come in from NSW.  Hannah stays for the day...doing study..and we take a walk after dinner to Martin's Point before she heads back to Hobart .

We have a really busy week of orders and cream making to replenish stocks.

Tuesday  and Tom has swimming program at Huonville pool 3 days this week...
The evening is so warm..I walk out to Martin's Point..very peaceful

Wednesday the wind is blowing hot...total fire ban in Tassie today..

Tom has decided to get up at 6.30am to have iPad time before reading...he's keen!!
He said everyone is eager to get to school to play with their iPads before the bell goes...
Our Quince tree is feeling the weight of it's fruit..

Hannah comes down to get her immunisations sorted with our local GP Neil. Her Prac is not until Sept...but they want everyone organised..
The wind cools off a bit mid morning and brings threatening clouds...but no rain..

Thankfully it doesn't get as hot as we thought...
The day passes quickly..
Hannah heads off to work after early dinner with us.

Tom's broken tooth is giving him pain...not a good sign...so we arrange a dental appointment . I miss garden today as I have to get Tom from school before his class goes to Huonville for swimming..
John does the dental appointment with Tom... they arrive home some time later...with Thomas looking a bit worse for wear.. Root Canal of the offending tooth is needed..After 3 'local' anaesthetic injections the dentist has been unable to make any progress as Thomas (poor darling) is in too much pain.
So we have to go to Hobart Private hospital in the morning  so Tom can have the root canal done under a 'general' anaesthetic..Tom is really good about it..and just looks forward to having a pain free tooth...( only sad to be missing an outing with his class on Friday)

We get an early start on Friday as we have to be in town by 8am... After much waiting around, Tom finally goes in for surgery about 9.30ish. It takes about 45 minutes..and we are called in to Recovery as he begins to wake..ALL OVER... Our dentist tells us all went well...but that it was a huge nerve root...a big job.
Eventually Tom is allowed to go and he remains groggy on the drive home..
A very quiet afternoon on the lounge...while Hannah studies (she is back down today to get her car fixed).
John and I catch up on orders and open the shop about 1-ish...
Poor Tom is feeling the effects of the surgery...and is very wobbly and pale...
We have early dinner with Hannah before she heads off to work again.

Tom is still a bit wobbly on Saturday morning ...so he decides to miss sailing today.
Heavy rain rolls in about 11am...so its a cosy place to be at home.
We decide to take a walk up on the hill in the afternoon. Tom perks up a bit...good to see the colour back in his cheeks and to hear the chatter again.

Lovely walk..then we go down to the Community garden to do some watering in the Poly tunnel and harvest loads of plums..

I stew and bottle them for the winter..
A quiet evening at home enjoying a roast dinner

Still hot and sunny here...

The days continue to be very warm this week...though the evenings are cooling down a bit.
We work through lots of orders on Monday.
Tom enjoys his scout night...no mishaps this week!!

Tuesday is a warm 28 degrees...

We have a nice combination of orders and customers..
There is a meeting at school tonight  as Tom's class will be working with iPads..we have to sign off on him bringing it home during the week... Tom (and his classmates) are very excited!!.

Swimming carnival on a hot Wednesday 31 degrees!! Go Lourdes..(RED)
Its wonderfully cool in the shop.
I take a break and have a look in at the Watermark Art Exhibition in the Town Hall...very interesting selection of works from paintings to photos to sculpture...
Tom arrives home...happy after a day at the pool.

There weather begins to turn a bit...

Community garden is now on Thursday mornings ..so I head down. We spend the morning harvesting produce from the garden..lovely.

Libby and Tim arrive Thursday in time for dinner...
We take a walk down to Martin's Point after dinner to see the site where 'The One and All" was built.

A busy day in the shop on Friday..Libby and Tim do washing and enjoy strolling around town  to see the sights. Tim is especially taken with the chocolate shop.
Hannah comes down from Hobart and will stay the night too..
After work/school we go up on the hill for a walk.. It's very warm walking about up there...

Home to dinner and chat before bed.

The drizzle drifts across on Saturday..
Hannah does a bit of study..

We have morning tea at Red Velvet then visit the "Watermark" Exhibition in the Town Hall.
Paul and Bob drop in to the shop so Bob can sign his books ...signed copies always sell well..
We do the Randall's Bay to Mickey's Beach track...in the drizzly rain..shame about the weather..

After lunch we drive into Hobart and visit MONA... It's a good place to be on a wet afternoon..
Libby takes a photo of Tim in the candle room...

After a drive by Hannah's workplace "Rockwall" and her accommodation at UTAS we drive back via the Channel Highway and stop at Peppermint Bay at Woodbridge for dinner. Very nice too..
We drive the scenic route home following the coast road all the way back to Cygnet.
Tom enjoys showing the visitors his Optical Fibre Lamp before bed..

Sunday is still pretty ordinary weatherwise.
We walk down to the Sailing club and on the the next wharf..It is cool in the wind down there..and it still drizzles.
Morning tea at Lotus Eaters is very welcome.
We potter about at home while Tim and Libby do last pack-up...
We see them off...as they head to Freycinet Peninsula today. Has been really special having them here....as John said to Tim on parting...after a decade ...they finally have met.
We have  a snooze then the boys get on with making a Eucalyptus/Plantago Cream.
I get the cream labels printed then do the Golf course circuit with Hannah.. a good walk.
We enjoy our roast dinner before watching David Attenborough...then Hannah and I watch Downton Abbey...
