John and Tom are going directly to "the barn" to look for second hand book treasures..
I get dropped off in Hobart and walk the bike track up to New Town to meet them... lovely walk.
We then spend a number of hours fossicking through boxes and boxes and boxes..looking for bargains.. We finally finish up (for this week. anyway)..and John is happy with his haul.
The light fades quickly now daylight saving is over.
The week begins with grey skies and lots of orders to do..
Tom enjoys scouts.
Tuesday afternoon Tom and I have Parent/Teacher interview..was good to get a feel for what is happening in his class..
Early Wednesday morning John and I go up to Bob Hawkins' place to harvest Calendula.
(Hannah has stayed overnight...so Tom stays home in bed)
We manage to harvest enough to make a couple of batches of cream..
The day remains grey..we are busy with orders all morning.
John goes into Hobart in the afternoon...to fossick at "the barn" for a couple of hours.
After work Hannah and I have a quick walk while Tom stays at home playing on his iPad..
We have dinner and it gets darker and darker...still no John.
Finally I get a call at 7pm...he has just finished loading up the car with boxes of books and will drive slowly home!! He is exhausted.
Narns goes back to Hobart for the night.
After an early walk..
My morning at Community Garden is spent weeding mostly.. a chilly breeze...but otherwise lovely in the sun. There are a number of us today which is nice...we tackle alot of garden beds.
Enjoy a cuppa together then I head back to work for the afternoon.
After work we go up on the hill to have a walk...beautiful in the evening light..
First frost of this year on Friday..
John goes into Hobart first thing to attend to some business..then goes up on the hill to meet with Colin ..the local dam man..to look at digging out our dam..
I hold the fort attending to orders and customers.
After school, John and Tom get to work collecting seeds from pods we collected the other day.
Tom has a scout 'Movie Night' tonight at the hall...Lots of fun.
It is not a great sailing morning..grey and pretty still..but last lesson today.
Tom is having a turn in the rescue boat on the way back in today..
After lunch we go up on the hill and enjoy a delightful walk...looking at the suggestions that Colin gave John re the dams etc..
The rain comes in but we don't mind..
We have a lucky close encounter with a Golden Brushtail Possum that is sitting in a low bush...he takes off too quickly to get a photo...but here is what he looks like..
(they are a quite rare type of Brushtail Possum...golden in colour due to their low melanin levels...and only found in pockets of Tasmania...due to low number of predators here)
A cosy evening with David Attenborough...learning about Wolves.
