Thomas is heading to Hobart Aquatic Centre with school today. A pre-Christmas fun day..
He has a grotty cold, but is still very keen to go and has a fantastic day.
John and I work through lots of orders today, and we see a number of customers doing Chrissie shopping..
It is the scout Christmas do tonight.
There are games(so lovely to watch Tom taking part with gusto), a BBQ dinner followed by a short Joey performance, DVD presentation of the year's events and singing of Carols/Christmas songs..an enjoyable evening as always..Such a fantastic group of people who dedicate their lives to scouts.. (John even cooks the BBQ...anything to avoid the games!!)
Tuesday and it's decidedly chilly today. The rain sweeps across as Tom is going to school so John walks him over with a brolly. A brief burst of sun lights up the village square..
We get on with paperwork today as there are only a couple of orders in today.
I go over and help with Christmas Craft in Tom's classroom after lunch. Sharon has planned all sorts of activities and I am always in awe and wonder that she manages to get the class to do them in the space of an hour..
I have a lovely night at choir.. We are preparing for participation in the Christmas Eve parade and learn parts for a beautiful arrangement (by Helen) of Gabriel's message.
Wednesday is really cold. The wind feels like it is coming off the snow somewhere.
I do some Christmas baking before work...
I attend the Year 10 Graduation Thanksgiving mass at 11.30 as I have been asked to be in the opening procession...carrying a candle as Board Representative. It is a lovely service with many traditional rituals performed..
Back at work and there are plenty of orders to get out..
After school, Tom makes a secret santa gift for one of his school friends...and he also sews a decoration for his teacher. We box up the Rum and Raison truffles for the teachers for tomorrow.
A nice quiet evening..
Thursday is grey and cool again..
I go down to garden for the morning..luckily the rain holds off so we get quite a bit done.. Weeding and harvesting garlic...Then time for a cuppa and lunch together...
We work through orders and have a number of customers during the afternoon.
Tom and I make chocolate puddings (by special request of Tom)
We have a lovely evening listening to John read Ranger's Apprentice book 3...getting very exciting!!
Friday and there is a strange sight across the road as I step out for my morning run..
Again the rain sweeps across town on and off.
We have a busy morning of orders..
My friend Kate from Woodbridge drops in and invites me to have a cuppa and chat at Lotus Eaters...so wonderful to catch up with her news and to share my news with her.
John gets to work on fixing our front gate (on the side of shopfront). We have had a graffiti artist visit in the night..not so bad..but we do want to secure the gate more effectively.
I do some Christmas baking before going up to the Top Pub to have drinks with 'the girls'. Great to catch up after so long..
A quiet night at home..
Saturday and John and I are up pottering with various jobs long before Thomas surfaces..
It's a coolish morning...but will be good for a sail. Last session before Christmas.
I wash, iron, clean and bake and do some sewing repairs during the morning..
John does some work in the shop and enjoys reading his Saturday paper over a coffee.
John picks up Tom from sailing and after his shower he heads off to get his ritual hot chips..
I collapse onto my bed..feeling really tired and fluey...it's good to just give in to my tiredness and rest for awhile.
We have a peaceful afternoon. John spends all afternoon re-potting and sorting his plants.
We decide not to go out to drinks at Paul and Bob's tonight as we are all feeling tired and not 100%.. a shame but a good decision.
Instead we have early dinner and watch part one of Lord of the Rings Pt3...love those orks!! (not!). I asked Tom why is it that orks never wear pink...all that black and grey and bad teeth and hair is very boring!. He just shook his head at me..
Sunday dawns a beautiful day..
There is double market today for Christmas.
Tom and I go across to the Town hall to help Kate and Lenny carry boxes from their cars into the hall fro Kate's Garden Pantry stall. Lenny's back is giving him grief so Kate asked around for help at Community Garden on Thurs. Another friend, Seeta, also comes into town to help. I am in awe of all the work involved in setting up that stall...so many boxes!! And they usually do it all by themselves..phew!
Seeta comes home for a cuppa and chat while she waits for the market to set up for business.
It is a wonderful atmosphere around town today..lots of stalls and people.
We open the shop for friends who have emailed us they are coming down from Hobart to buy some gifts from us.
Thomas has a ball playing with the kids at market..so lovely to see him having such a fun day.
I again take the opportunity to have a long rest on my bed as I still feel unwell..feels like such luxury to just embrace my tiredness and sleep.
Tom and I go over and help Kate and Lenny cart boxes back down to their car at the end of market.
I wander up to St Marks Anglican Church at 5pm to the Nine Lessons and Carols.. really beautiful Christmas celebration in the lovely little church. It is an ecumenical service and beautifully done with the Cygnet Singers performing and leading Carols between readings.
A lovely quiet night...and I'm in bed by 8.30pm ...
