There are a lot of people around town and we see many of them in the shop.
John and Tom harvest Belladonna fruit to process... Stunning shiny and DEADLY berries!
Later they get an Argentum ointment going and Thomas has a turn at mixing the ingredient on the glass slab..he does well. Learning some amazing skills this boy.
We go up on the hill after work so Tom can do some archery practise.
We planned to have a picnic dinner...but decide to have it at home as we are too tired to set up a spot
Glad to get to our beds as we are suffering post-Festival fatigue.
Tuesday is another gorgeous one.
We spend the morning doing orders and looking after customers.
After lunch we slowly prepare to close at 3pm and head to the airport.
Tom and I are flying up for an overnight Sydney stay at Libby and Tim's...then a morning flight out to Moree.
All goes according to plan and Tom and I get to West Ryde about 7.30pm
We have a delightful if brief catch up with some of the Dabbs family, Jane and Chris and Dewayne..Terrific.
Chris very kindly gives Tom a book and despite his tiredness, he just has to have another look at it before sleep time.
Dearest Lucy kindly does the morning airport run...dropping us to the door..thanks Lucy!!
Jess meets us at the other end!...
We have a fantastic day and a half in Moree.
Such a beautiful home Jess and Aaron have...in a lovely town.
Really wonderful to have seen where they are living and working.
Thanks Aaron for the behind the scenes tour of Moree police station!!
Here are some highlights.
Looking forward to my next visit...to greet my grandchild.
John picks us up at Hobart after work and we enjoy a delicious dinner at The Beach café in Blackman's Bay...
then home to our own beds..
Saturday is another lovely day...although not quite as warm as Moree.
We have a slow morning, pottering and doing chores.
We go to Huonville at about 11.30 so Thomas can have a go at the Huon Archer's trial morning. He shoots 9 arrows for $3....THREE TIMES!!.. A keen customer. Even hits a bullseye!.
We will look into doing the Beginners 12 week course once sailing finishes.
Then we have told Tom that John wants to see a movie at the State Cinema called 'The Book Thief'.
I comment that it is only fair, since we have just had a lovely break in Moree...Unbeknownst to Tom, John has hatched a plan to buy tickets to The Hobbit instead. After some lunch at Raincheck Lounge, we head over to the theatre/bookshop and poke around for about half an hour. John purchases the tickets while Tom is with me. We get him into the theatre, he is looking suitably resigned to having to sit through a boring movie..looking at a book until the lights go down.
The Hobbit theme starts and he sits up a bit from his slumped position...thinking it is a trailer....then the penny drops and there is an exclamation of delight!! Good one John!!
Then reading , and to bed.
Sunday and it has cooled off a bit more...but still lovely.
We have some 'Ranger ' before breakie, then Tom and I go over to help Kate unload her gear into the hall for Market.
Tom is picked up by his friend Finn and Dad Jason, to go to Laser Squirmish in Kingston with 2 other school mates.. to celebrate Finn's birthday.
John and I stroll the market then get ready to attend to Town Hall Centenary celebrations.
We are on the invited guest list...a real honour.. (I think it is by default!. I went to the first planning meeting for the celebrations...and somehow remained on the helper list..oh well..we are 'Friends' of the Town Hall in spirit)
The Governor Peter Underwood and his wife attend to unveil a plaque.100years ago the Governor of the day unveiled the original plaque.
After various speeches etc, invited guests go up to the supper room to enjoy a magnificent spread prepared by the Cygnet CWA...a real feast.
The highlight are 3 Cygnet shaped cream puffs that the Governor and his wife note with delight.
I spend a lot of time talking to Genevieve from the newsagent...her mum grew up in Cygnet and she enjoys looking at the historic photos that have been put up.
John and I are presented to the Governor and his wife by local resident Andrew Blaxland (chief organiser of the function, great, great grandson of Blaxland the Blue mountains explorer and partner to Posie Graeme-Evans author and creator of McCloud's Daughters) We have a nice chat.
We go home (with Cygnet cream puff in hand for Thomas!!)
John dashes back over to the Supper room to give the CWA ladies a copy of the lovely photo of the Governor admiring the cream puffs.. they are delighted.
Tom arrives home about 2.30 and we have a relaxing afternoon.
We go up on the hill for a walk. Beautiful!
We note that the hay has been cut ready for baling in the 'Hay Paddock'
We stop by the school to see the progress in demolition of the Drill Hall
Back home we have a quiet evening after our busy weekend.
