Sunrise, Sydney, Sixty and Snow

The week begins with a stunning sunrise.

It is business and school routine as usual. Tom enjoys cubs...only a couple more weeks before he goes up to scouts...very excited.
I have a lovely sing at choir..we have such fun.
Wednesday arrives and after a morning's work Hannah and Mark drive me to the airport to head to Sydney . Thanks guys..
Lucy and Paul pick me up from Epping station and we go to dinner at Bellavista..yummy food...thanks for dinner  Lucy and Paul..
We do a drive-by their house at Stanhope Gardens and Lucy is very excited to see the SOLD sign up.
We tiptoe about and look at what we can from the street...then drive around the area to see the shopping centre/library/swimming pool and park nearby.. can't wait for my next visit to see it all in the daylight.
we say our goodbyes as they drop me back to Libby's.. such cosy accommodation..heater and hot-water bottle...luxury.
After my early morning run..I make a cuppa and wait for Libby and Indie(who is having a sleepover) to surface. about 7-ish I hear he little voice...so cute. She comes downstairs to find her dressing gown and gives me a very serious look and scuttles back up to Libby when I say hello!! We are soon 'friends' even if I feel like I am intruding on her Grandma time.
So after breakie...I head out to play Katie Nanna to my little Ben. (He and Jess are staying at Kenthurst for a few days...so we have co-ordinated our Sydney visit so we can catch up.)
What fun... I still have to pinch myself when I see darling Jess talking to her beautiful son...so surreal.
He has grown so much since I saw him about 6 weeks ago I think. You'll have to indulge me when it comes to Ben  photos....(trust me ..I am being very restrained)

We spend a blissful day together. It is such precious time and I feel so lucky to share in the routine of Jess' day with her boy. Motherhood can be challenging and hard work at times...and Jess is managing it with such grace. I am very proud of her.
Back at Libby's, we enjoy a quiet night with Elsie and are all glad to go to bed pretty early..
Friday..and after a morning run and breakie, Libby and I decide to have a walk down by the river..
then we head over to Chris' to rendevous with Jane, Marty and Chris and Dewayne (plus Ellie who has just returned from the UK this morning) We enjoy hearing some of Ellie's news then  Jane, Libby, Marty and I wander down to a local cafe for a coffee and a chat while Chris has a catch up rest (from her early morning airport run)
We share a delicious lunch at Chris'..fabulous with the impromptu catering as always.. the we leave her to have some quiet. Libby is getting toey..as she has things to do to prepare for her big trip to Greenland on Tuesday..so she goes home.
Marty, Jane and I walk the Parramatta Lake circuit... really lovely.

I am dropped back to Libby's in time to get ready for dinner out. Lovely drive in Marty's snazzy new Mazda.
Marty's 60th celebrations begin in earnest..
His 4 sisters sing him a special birthday song...which seems to go down well.
We have drinkies and nibbles while Marty opens his gifts..

Then its off to Woolwich Pier Pub for dinner...a terrific spot...great food.

After our lovely meal, we take the traditional walk down to Clarks Point..

A lovely , lovely night.

Saturday we all make our way over to see Pa at Ashfield. He manages the visit well, making sure to ask us all relevant questions about our busy lives..what a supreme effort. it was just wonderful to give him a big hug.
We all say our goodbyes..wishing Libby a safe and happy holiday..
I make my way to Circular Quay and enjoy a quiet restful hour or two at out hotel before the boys return from the Powerhouse museum. (they flew up last night)
We snooze and read until it is slowly time to shower and get ready to go to dinner before the Opera...Don Giovanni.
I am carrying Ma's handmade Red brocade purse tonight..thinking of her..

We walk over to Fratelli Fresh in Walsh St...delicious food...

 Amazing moon...

The Opera is fabulous. Teddy Tahu Rhodes is in fine voice and relishes the bad-boy role.

I enjoy a run in the quiet streets and gardens on Sunday.

We have a tasty breakie..

then wander through the gardens over to the Art Galley.

I enjoy the Archibald exhibition while John and Tom wander around the galley so Tom can play with my camera...

Then we walk the back streets up to Paddington so John can visit Berkelouws Books. We have a lunch stop then walk back to town..

We taxi it to the airport and all goes to schedule. We arrive in Hobart about 8pm and end up driving through snow as we head over Vinces' saddle at the top of the Huon valley...stunning.

What an amazing life I lead...
