Summer weather and glorious sunrises

Back to garden on Thursday and we harvest, harvest , harvest..

and begin work to prepare a new garden bed...hot work!!

 Seedings are sown...

Just love the colour of the Cox's Orange Pippins..

Well earned feasting after a hot morning in the garden

Thursday night ...and I join Bec ,Jo, Di and Liz for our first St Ayles Skiff row at Cygnet..
We plan to do this regularly...while we still have light anyway..

 The beautiful "Swan"

Love the morning light as I do my morning round..

John gets to work potentising a powder... a wonderful calming process that takes time..
Love the gentle rasping sound the pestle makes as it is grinds the powder in the mortar...in slow spiral movement...into the centre then back out..

We go up on the hill early on Saturday to beat the heat...

I walk the garden and clear away the plant cages and star pickets so mowing can be done..

The boys get up the last few wall frames...looks amazing

Look at the beautiful rose...makes me happy..

Blue , blue sky and it's heating up

Down at the house site...the gyprock for the ceiling has been delivered..

Just finishing off for the morning..great work boys!!

 The reward...lunch at The Cat's Tongue...yummo

Back on the hill in the late afternoon...I get to work heating and scraping layers of paint off the window frames

 Beautiful sunset..

Sunday morning dawns and it is already 22 degrees...going to be a hot one.

I go to Ranelagh to attend 9.30 Mass with St James and Sacred Heart teachers and Board members.
Lovely to see the new church. We enjoy a cuppa and chat afterwards...

John has dropped Tom down to Egg and Bacon Bay for Scouts Foundation Day celebrations..
Water games , Kayaking and general fun to be had...Tom is very keen to go.

Back home and John and I spend our day in the cool of the shop.
I make a start cutting out Lucy's wedding dress..it is a lovely day..
Tom arrives home exhausted...and we are all thankful the rain comes across in the evening.

Monday sunrise is another stunner..the week is off to a great start..

Another busy week in Cygnet..

We get on with or working week once the visitors have gone..orders to do and Hypericum to press

Wednesday is the Opening School Mass when school leaders receive their badges and a hefty dousing of holy water (Our new parish priest Fr Michael Tate warned he likes to use holy water with gusto so told all to shelter their candles so they didn't go out))

I experienced it for myself as I took up a candle to represent the School Board(I'm far right in picture) and (under his breath) Fr Tate said 'I'll give you an adult dose',,,And he did!!

Hannah completes her last exam today..Yay!!

House progress...and the internal walls are being insulated and lined

The shed is also coming along..

My roses are looking spectacular!!... the Possum proof fence is holding its own at the moment

Thursday morning I get down to the garden...just lovely..

We have a little visitor help with the chooks..

What a harvest..

Friday is an important day..
Lotus Eaters are open again...wonderful to see the beautiful women working valiantly with gentle smiles and love.
Beautiful soup..

John and I meet Paul and Rosalie on site to double check light fitting placement..

Saturday and it's a stunning morning..

We go into town to meet Narns and Jark at Ginger Browns for celebration Breakie..now Narns is finished her study.. (I must be tired...as I forget to take a photo!!)
We do see an amazing house around the corner complete with it's own carriageway

We do the usual mad dash around town to pick up items we need...and even manage to chose tiles for the house without too much trauma..

I am just thinking about how nice it will be to get home and rest when Bec calls to ask if I will row with Cygnet Garden Larder in the Corporate race in the St Ayles Skiff Regatta this afternoon as Tanya has had to pull out suddenly...Of course I say!! I am excited to get the chance to row.

I get over to Franklin at 5pm in the hope I can have a row before the race to get a feel for it...
Unfortunaely that doesn't happen...but we manage anyway.. and win our heat!! Great fun

We enjoy watching the other heats ...and are pleased that we don't come in last...
20th out of 30 boats...not bad for complete novices

Some teams really get into the spirit and row in uniforms..Martial arts group
Local fire crew
Light horsemen and nurses
The nurses dogs watch on..
As do the horses

A fantastic community event..
The serious racing on Friday/Saturday/Sunday went really well by all accounts too.

Tom delights in playing in this box...makes John and I smile..

Sunday morning I attend a Ta Ke Ti Na workshop..that has been organised by Cygnet Arts Council and is Free for Cygnet residents.. a fascinating, and challenging process

I go up on the hill to se what the boys have been up to..looking good..

Tom and I take turns doing some mowing...It is quite humid today...

Monday evening we go up to check progress(and play) and the boys get another frame finished..

Like the bath spot!!

Sewing /Guest room will be stunning.

Tom brings the car down for us..

Amazing late afternoon light...

Fields of gold

I do a maintenance check of the mower..
Beautiful Monday morning

Lotus display...beautiful as always

Jess sends me some belated photos of my visit...love them..
