More festivities in Cygnet.

Monday is a busy, busy day again.
The day passes so quickly as we work through the orders.
There is activity next door in the Town Hall as the remains of the Ball decorations are removed and another group begin the set up for Southern Exposure Art show that opens on Friday night. Various art works begin to arrive..
I notice the wonderful Swan from the Folk Festival is making its way down to the sailing club..

Zara (Event co-ordinator) drops off the Bur-gees (sailing pennants) that were entered in the design competition by local schools. We will display them in the shop during the week.

On the weekend we will open the shop as we have a local author David Hopkins coming in to do book signing of his Tassie book.

Tom and I get some work done after school before he heads off to Scouts.
John and I go down to the garden and harvest more plums...they are ripening up quickly..
We have a nice quiet night at home..

Tuesday is a really warm one.
Again we are kept busy most of the day...
Zara is in and out during the day showing the bur-gees and books to various people.
More art works arrive next door.
Our friends Ned and Kim drop in during the afternoon to say hi.. Ned who made our beautiful huon table and stools, has entered some work into the Art show.
John goes up on the hill after work to hammer stakes in for the earthworks guys who will start work on our driveway tomorrow...hard to believe it is actually happening..
It is so hot..we opt for fruit salad topped with yoghurt and cashews for dinner..
I go over to Swansong choir...a small group...but just lovely, lovely singing tonight.
The boys have a quiet night (I think!!)

Wednesday and its 21° at 6am when I go out for my morning constitutional...nuts!!
By school time it is very overcast and about 18°..

John heads off before 9am to meet Rodney up on the hill. Very exciting.
Tom is pleased that it is Clarinet lesson day. He has been practicing hard..and hopes to impress Mr Nielsen.
I have plenty of things to do to keep me busy until John returns mid-morning.. all is underway on the hill..
I unpack and price our latest soft toy order...fun to set them up around the shop.

John gets to work filling an Aurum Cream he made yesterday while I take phone orders and keep dispensing and packing..
The afternoon passes quickly. John sets up a surprise for Tom.

He arrives in and is suitably amused. He reports a good lesson had with Clarinet today.
We do some research on the Mossman sugar cane industry in Nth Qld..interesting!!
Then Tom is off to work and I go into Sandy Bay to have dinner with Hannah at her place..what fun.
She cooks me a delicious meal then we have a lovely walk and chat admiring the views of the Derwent River along the way.

I have cuppa and we enjoy watching the last rays of sun on the eastern shore and the Tasman Bridge as we sit out on the verandah..Nice to meet Penny, the owner of the house, as she waters the garden.. The I head home.
The boys have been up on the hill to take a look at the progress of the earthworks...looking good John tells me.

Thursday and its a chilly 8° this morning when I head out...bit of a change from yesterday!! Lovely though.
A gorgeous sunrise again.

I bake an upside-down plum cake to take down to garden...and stew up more plums for our breakie..

Tom has swimming class at Huonville Pool today..Brr.. outdoor pool!
John goes up on the hill to meet with architect and fine tune sites for tanks etc...all happening!!
I get on with the morning work.
When John returns I go down to garden..(a bit late) We harvest plums, move the chooks and weed..then it's time for lunch..yummo..

Back at the shop there is work to be done and the afternoon passes quickly.
We dash up onto the hill to have a look at the work that has been done on the driveway today...very exciting to see.

Then it's back home in time to set up from the 'In Stitches' group tonight in the shop. A good roll up tonight and we have a delightful couple of hours together.

Friday is another gorgeous morning.
Thomas has his swimming carnival today so is very happy heading off today.
John goes up to meet Rodney up on the hill first thing...as he has a couple of questions for him.
I get on with orders while he is away.
Later when John returns..I go down to Burton's Reserve to watch some of the 'Henley on Agnes' dry boat races..lots of fun.

There are also groups of local school children building boats for the 'Quick and Dirty' Boat race on Saturday Morning. Tom's mate Callum  and Adele, Molly and Paige also from Year 5 are building the St James boat.

Back at the shop we have quite a number of customers through buying books..particularly our Yachting books..
Tom arrives in all smiles after a great day of swimming.

We do a bit of research on Mossman Gorge Nth Qld before Tom goes off to work..
John and I race up to the hill to have a quick look at the progress.

On our way home we spot the Quick and Dirty boats all stacked up for tomorrow..

Back home just time for a quick dinner and a shower before we go next door to the opening night of Southern Exposure Art Exhibition. Some fabulous work on display. Posie ( of McLeod's Daughters fame) does the honours opening the event in style.

It is my turn this year to announce the Southern Swan Student Art prize and award the winning cheque... to a mate of Tom's from scouts it turns out!!. Nice.

It is a good night...but glad to get home for a cuppa and a quiet sit before bed.

Saturday and John is up and out about 6.30am to go up on the hill to do a bit of a tidy up of the swales that have been dug.( It is a bit like repairing a wound on the land to reduce the scars!) Tom and I enjoy a sleep in til 7am then have breakie and do a few chores before we go out front to put up more bur-gees outside the shop. They look very festive outside and inside the shop.

John arrives home about 8.30 and Tom and I get organised to ride down to the Sailing Club to watch the dingy races at 9
An absolutely perfect day..and what a spectacle...

The St Ayles skiffs...both built by locals have a race down Port Cygnet.
'Imagine' built by Women On Water group in Franklin last year outstripped 'The Swan' built this year by Cygnet locals.

The Quick and Dirty boats hit the water about 10.30ish.. Some float better than others.

It is lovely to meet up and chat with a number of friends..

Tom has such fun out in the water .
Eventually we decide it is time to ride home.
John has been manning the shop. We have local author David Hopkins in the shop today..selling and signing his book and art work.

He has sold a couple of books and John has sold a number of other books too.
John gets on with pressing Belladonna then Hypericum while I man the shop. We sell a few books.
We close up about 4-ish and go up on the hill when Tom gets home from work.

We get a fair amount done before stopping for BBQ dinner...just lovely!!

Port Cygnet moorings are filling up for final day of Regatta tomorrow..

Sunday is another glorious day.

We are up early and on the hill before the heat of the day.

Back home we set up the Bur-gees out front of the shop ready for another day of book signing.
Tom and I ride down to the Sailing club to watch the Tall ships, dragon boat races and gaffer-rigged yacht sail past. The 'eye in the sky' guy is circling overhead.
We stop in at the clubhouse for a cool drink.. Tom is very keen to get a PCSC Bur-gee so says he will ride home and back to get money!!

New local identity Peter George (former ABC foreign correspondent) is interviewed as part of morning program coming from PCSC.

Tom and I ride back home and have some lunch.
We close up hoping to get down to watch the start of the Regatta Race at 2pm...
We are a bit late but John and I can see the yachts in the distance as we walk down to the sailing Club.(Tom is way ahead on his bike)

We enjoy a cool drink after a very hot walk...and can see the yachts sailing up and back..
Tom has a lovely swim.

We walk/ride back home in time for Tom to get to work... and John and I have a little..ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
After delicious fruit salad and yoghurt for dinner we go up on the hill to do just a bit more!!
John does some repair work to the gate then we attack another section that needs a bit of repair..

Dusty and tiring work..we are glad to go home and have a restful night.
